Another random post, yay, well okay. So last night I hung out with Fuentes and Santos in the reunion of The 3 Amigos! Always fun :) Well, as afternoon turned to midnight, and then morning, my friend Santos and I ended pulling an all nighter. We were pretty much just getting to hit the sack, when we just started an interesting conversation. All of a sudden we weren't as tired any more, and so we kept talking on about our personal life issues that applied to all of life's issues. There are a few things I remember that I never quite thought of before, that just sort of made me think.
The big one was when we were talking economics and success in life. He described life as a pyramid, with the rich and succesful at the point on top, and the poor and hardworking at the bottom. He made me think that, "You can't be at the top, without having other people below you to support you..."(Santos) I found this pretty odd, because this led to my conclusion that in order for anyone to become more successful people have to put people below them, which makes it quite impossible to be on equal terms with people when you're putting them at a disadvantage. This idea I didn't really like, but it did get me thinking.
Consequently I asked, why is this so screwed up? and so I decided to blame the way that our country works. The U.S. of A. All about independence, and working for one's own success. Well even though this is a great idea, in practice it seems to become a national competition to reach the top, where only a few will make it. So even if a few are to reach the top, the success is only shared between them and a few close people probably. It is not shared throughout the country. That is one of the many downfalls we saw of our society. Our little all nighter philosophy.
