Both trips are long distance, and are many counties apart.

My wife is scheduled to work that weekend. I'm hoping she can get those days off, or that they end up being different days on the same weekend.

My stepmother is in the hospital and has been for 4 days. It sounds very serious.

I subsequently discovered my espresso machine doesn't work and dropped a jar on my foot during the troubleshooting process. Still no espresso.

My elderly, shaggy cat ran out of the one air conditioned room we have (where we have been mostly keeping her during this heat wave for her own protection) after I fed her she snuck up to where wife was sleeping and started roaring in her face to wake her up... For perfectly reasonable cat purposes, I am sure.

The Internet went out overnight so my bittorrent client stalled out pretty early.

It's supposed to be almost as hot today as yesterday.

I don't think we got a technical tornado, just the mesocyclone of a particularly nasty supercell passing directly overhead. This was on a country road near a town about a 26km/16mi drive from my hamlet. The young gentleman there was a carpenter staying temporarily to work on the performing arts festival that they have every year. The whole area was riven with power failures and there were trees down in the village nearest my hamlet.

I kept my elderly and very long/thick haired cat trapped all day in my one air conditioned room.

I am expecting my "new" vehicle on Friday. It is a 2011 Toyota RAV4 (base model), so very similar to my wife's 2010 Honda CRV (base model) that I have been appropriating for work over the past month. I ordered a dashcam, I'm getting a GPS device and it has a phone mount, so it'll be all kitted up. I'm quite excited. I just wish that vanity plates weren't so expensive. Perhaps someday I will get some.
