Iâm actually going to reblog a thing just because this is really important.
As someone who has epilepsy and used to have several grand mal seizures a day, Iâd also like to add that âoffer helpâ can range anywhere from keeping the person calm to explaining to them where they are and what they were doing to even just telling them they should sit and rest for a while longer (lack or coordination is common, and it can be hard to walk straight or see clearly).
Itâs okay for them to take up to a half hour to fully regain their bearings and sort out what they were doing prior to the seizure. Just answer any questions calmly and be there for support.
If they come around and you start to panic or shake them or ask them what the heck is wrong with them they are going to freak out and panic too.
I cannot stress it enough that this is bad.
If someone has a seizure and they come out of it, please. please stay calm.
They are likely disoriented and confused, even if itâs only for a minute or two, and you donât want them panicking on top of that because they can have another seizure as a result.
IMPORTANT because last year a kid in my class had a seizure, none of us even knew he was at risk for them either so just cause you donât think you know anyone doesnât mean you donâtÂ
I have to stress how important it is to time a seizure. If it lasts more than a few minutes, call an ambulance.
DO NOT CALL THE POLICE. Iâm dead fucking serious. I had a grand mal in public once and the POLICE were called and imagine coming out of the seizure, feeling like you got smacked in the head with a sack full of bricks, confused, dazed, in desperate need of some sugar to boost low blood pressure and some DIPSHIT has called the police and I was being threatened with being âdrunk and disorderlyâ. It took a phone call to my doctors office to get them to back off. The police cannot properly deal with sick people.Â
Offer help can be:
assuring person where they are/what time it is
getting them something to drink if they can; seizure burns so much energy and does cause a blood pressure drop
getting them safely to transport or a carer
getting them some dignity like a blanket/towel [loosing control of your bladder and bowels is fucking horrifying]
ensuring they have a way to get home. Someone who has just had a seizure should NEVER DRIVE straight after
calling emergency services if you notice any of these symptoms because they may have stroked out.
Why you shouldnât put anything in someoneâs mouth: they will choke. Yes, they may bite their tongue but I can assure you itâs less traumatic than cracking your jaw on someoneâs greasy wallet or choking on a spoon.
DO NOT HOLD ANYONE DOWN. Example: someone pinned my right shoulder mid-seizure a few years back and how I have a permanently displaced and clicking shoulder. Let the person flail around, those muscles are out of control and restraining them does cause more damage to the patient and you.
ALSO QUICK LEGALITY: YOU HAVE TO RECEIVE CONSENT TO HELP THE INDIVIDUAL BY LAW.
I recently got trained with First Aid and Red Cross now makes it so you know how to help with seizures too, and the first thing you do when youâre trained is say âhi. My name is (name) and I am able to help, is that all right?â
Do not leave the persons side until further help is received in the clear.
Not only can a personâs glasses break during a seizure, costing them a ridiculous amount to replace them, glasses can do a huge amount of damage to the face and the nose specifically if not removed during a seizure.

Chiemâs backstory is pretty normal in comparison to other peopleâs OC, from what Iâve seen.
She was born, both her parents were alive and she had an older brother, but otherwise things were pretty chill. They lived near Mount Quomolangma (which is near Nepal and Tibet (if I remember right at least)), in a small area known as âŚI havenât decided Sindhulimadi or Okhaldhunga, which are both on the eastern side of Nepal. Nonetheless, Nepal was having some war-time troubles at the time prior to 1923 where the treaty between the United Kingdom and Nepal was signed.
Most of this stuff is only canonical to Chiem and is bent to fit the universe, not historical accuracy, by the way weeps.
Back to backstory stuff, though.
Due to the previous wartime necessities for Nepal against the outside and inside fights it left the place where Chiem and her family lived in a stuck position of insecurity. There was the pushing forces of political standings, democracy being pushed around in comparison to their previous state of government.
To be short, Nepal was stuck in a pretty hard-struck with instability in the earlier half of the 19th century, which reflected on the way that Chiem and her family lived.
Her and her brother were happy children, having been born into the circumstances and thus ignorant to how bad it would be considered outside of that area, (if it would be, as that idea of being bad would be dependent on the viewer,) and thus never felt like they had it bad. There was crime on the streets, sure, and things may have happened that were, uh, less than wanted, but being children they didnât pay it much heed.
However, odd things were happening that were different from the regularities of wartime in places and the common crime. It had started only a bit after her sixth birthday, and would occur until her eighth birthday, somehow.
It wasnât anything less than common knowledge to understand that the cycle of life came to a close, and sometimes that happened in pretty terrible ways. But when you witnessed those things, or heard about them at least, it became pretty much a commonality.
But having people come back from their deathbeds⌠Well that wasnât really normal in any standards. At first they all believed people had just been digging people up in some agony-inspired craze, but as it kept happening and to everyone whom had died people began to suspect a kind of black magic at hand.
They werenât that far from the truth.
Stories were being passed along of the dead rising and devouring the one who called them back, wearing their skin and then never being seen again. When travelers came in and said the same, only happening once, Chiemâs parents began to become suspicious of the happenings and were packing up to begin to travel away from (areaherebcimlame).
People had began to distrust one another in their small community, and Chiem and her brother werenât allowed to do things that they had done prior, such as straying away or even just playing out at night in the small âyardâ. This set them on edge, fearing the unknown.
Like planned, Chiem and her family traveled away from (insert area here), moving to (insert other area here (bc its literally the other one that i cant decide like o k self)).
However, on their move to (other area here) nothing had changed. Tales of the rising dead still occurred, more frequently than before, even. With the mass hysteria in the smaller locations of such an event, the increase in deaths dramatically rose, which in turn rose the dead more as there was more dead to rise.
Due to this hysteria, Chiem and her family were forced to continue moving, never staying in once place too long after hysteria would spread to a level her parents deemed âunacceptableâ.
Chiem spent the next two years traveling, never quite understanding the same feeling of having a steady home.
It was on her eighth year of life that she was removed from her family.
They had made it to (somelocation) when something other than dead rising had happened.
Since they had gotten to (insertlocation), Chiem had been having this gut-wrenching feeling. Not physically sickening to her, but it bothered her quite a bit. It had only began to steadily increase the longer they spent time, but for some reason there was a lack of dead people coming back.
Not having a second thought about why, her parents were all to happy to give her and her brother a place where they could live and stay for a while. Although she had that feeling that something was off, Chiem didnât bother with it.
It was a Sunday when there were reported sightings of something odd on the outskirts of (location). Having lived in as much peace as they were going to have, the people didnât think much of it either.
On Monday the location was attacked. By securing an underground space, Chiem and her family and a couple others managed to live. Upon coming out of their hiding around 6 hours later the town was in ruins.
Tuesday was when her and her family began to pack again, to leave. On Tuesday was also the day when the men in the strange coats came to take her away.
Her parents gave her up after the men promised no harm and a safe place. Chiem didnât understand what was happening, begging to stay but being disallowed from such and she was taken away from them.
Who knows they might be alive. Even after she was abandoned by her parents and brother, even then, she still searches for them. Maybe they have a nice house where theyâll never have to move from again.
Or theyâre dead that is also possible yâknow just saying right.

   No time for thoughts, just action. The bomb was tossed away,  thrown by a calloused left hand while her dominant held her  trusty shield. It could handle a bullet from an akuma, it should  be able to handle this.
   âŚRight?
   It unleashed its fury barely three feet away from her,  chocolate eyes screwing themselves shut in order to avoid going  blind from the light. The force shoved her like a tsunami would a  grain of sand, slamming her down into the ground with a shout.
   Yet she kept a hold on that shield. Her legs may be seared, her  ears may be ringing, and by god she could feel the muscles in her  shoulder screaming in agony already, but there was no way she  was letting go of her shield.
   What kind of finder would Calera be if she did?
     [  Chiem's eyes widened as the bomb was set off close to the finder. The blast was larger than expected, leaving quite an impact on the ground. Who stuck bombs in chests?! Although if it were methodically placed in order to murder the two of them and fail the mission... well it was a good plan in that case.
     "A-are ya'lright?!" She cried, rushing forward in the direction of the poor Finder. Go figure that they had been far from each other when the blast went off. Good for her, sure, but maybe not so much for the Finder, whom she hoped wasn't too injured? From experience blowing up Akuma, though, perhaps her hopes would be crushed soon. "We 'ave ta get'outt'a 'ere, hurry get up!" If the Finder was too injured to move, then what? Would she be forced to leave her? Perhaps, but she was never told what to do in those circumstances, not really.
     Thankfully Chiem could see that the Finder's shield had mamanged to hold up from the impact of the bomb. Seeing that it was being held up, that meant that she was still alive, which was a better sign than her being dead. However, the blast had displaced rocks and chunks of ground, leaving them placed in between herself and the Finder. Adding to the list was that whoever or whatever had wanted them dead wasn't around the area. Or, if it (or they) were, Chiem was unable to identify where, exactly.
     They really had to get out of here soon, and at least survey the damage that had been dealt to the Finder alongside gather more information about said... random bomb?]

as someone who has an OC that uses smalltext, uses icons, never godmods, and doesnât fit into the mold that tumblr has stereotyped OCâs into, itâs very difficult for me to find people who want to roleplay with me. and furthermore, itâs frustrating that iâm forced to roleplay with people i donât really want to just because the people i do want to roleplay with are ignoring me. iâm not saying you canât be picky, on my canon blogs iâm picky too, justâŚreblog if you actually talk to OCâs and look at them before stereotyping them.
