I try to be and I know I used to be. However, sometimes we let people get to us and they can build you up or bring you down. Unfortunately, the ones surrounding me are not building me up and I need to step away as difficult as that may be.

After just these past 6 weeks, I must say this is absolutely true. Big emphasis on something to hope for. Because hope is the last thing you have when there is no longer certainty, take that away and what's left is just a shell.

My childhood trauma didn't make me stronger. it made me a people pleaser. it made me forgive way too much. it made me not speak when i'm supposed to. it made me an extreme empath.

I might add that this is not necessarily a gift. It adds the hurt of others on top of your own. It buries yours so that when it breaks through and the reality of having experienced so much pain but not yet your own and the reality of having all that experience and being able to have helped others through experiences you've never had but understand through them, you're still not sure how to begin helping and healing yourself. Often I think this is because to ourselves, we don't really matter so much as those around us that we don't want to see in pain. We hide and bury our own until we've fallen so far behind that we have to deal with our own selves that has become such monumental task that only a few of us can even figure out where to start and that's when we start to see ourselves unravel as well as many of us begin to see the people close to us begin to distance themselves.

Manipulation is when they disturb your peace, provoke you, trigger your mental health, and then blame you for your negative reactions.

Another good one that is again, currently appropriate for that same "friend" of mine.

Maturity is when you realize people can't give you what they can't give themselves, so you stop expecting loyalty from people who betray themselves, stop expecting honesty from people who lie to themselves, and stop expecting peace from people who are at war with themselves.
