Y'know what, the 2nd and 3rd Pirates movies didn't make any use at all out of Will being a blacksmith and I feel like they should have
He clearly LOVES being a blacksmith in CotBP and I never realized until now that DMC and AWE just drop that entirely :( Let him be a blacksmith!!
A+ weird little dude, but I'm equally fascinated by the choice of music.

This was a hit on twitter, so: My cat. Enjoy her.
cannot fucking believe how many notes this has and continues to get
When the Tumblrites cry "it's that chocolate guy!" that's Amaury
unfortunately i dont think its queerbaiting if the creator is just so terminally heterosexual that they never remotely considered the same gender relationship their show is centered around could be read as romantic. it is deeply painful however.
Maybe accidental queer baiting? The way someone may not mean to say something rude, but it may come off rude, so it's rude. Frustrating either way.
Not being a dick, just a friendly clarification.
By definition you can't accidentally queerbait. Queerbaiting is specifically using a same sex pair from the show to market the show to queer audiences with no intention of ever following through on a romantic relationship.
There is officially licensed Destiel merch signed off on by Kripke. Teen Wolf had a commercial with the actors for Derek and Stiles draped over each other talking about being "on a ship." Both shows actively used scenes between them as marketing while actively mocking fans for wanting them together. Sherlock has multiple characters refer to Johnlock as a couple, including characters we're supposed to believe are never wrong about human behavior and pushed those scenes in marketing. Then they acted insulted when fans saw them as a couple.
That's queerbaiting.
Done on accident it would just be queer subtext. Done because they had no other choice due to censorship is queer coding.
The specific meaning of the word is really starting to get lost and it's a pretty important one to keep accurate. It describes a very specific phenomenon that was done repeatedly and maliciously for decades and is meant to examine that specifically.
Doing it on accident sucks, but it isn't a tactic of capitalism intentionally intended to suppress queer representation while making money from queer fans.
Reblogging to keep the accurate definition and examples of queerbaiting circulating in the world

Indigenous lands are crucial for climate mitigation and resilience. Research shows their health is a direct result of Indigenous stewardship
While this isn't news to anyone who works in this space, it is useful to have this water-is-wet research to affirm that Indigenous knowledge and land management are extremely effective at storing carbon and protecting biodiversity.
I want to draw special attention to this part of the article:
New research shows that approach overlooks the key role that Indigenous knowledge and culture can play in mitigating climate change. It also reveals a dangerous misconception that has taken hold in global climate discussions: the idea that Indigenous lands are so rich because they are remote or sparsely populated. Nothing could be further from the truth. The health of Indigenous lands and their ability to store vast quantities of carbon stem from the stewardship of the people who inhabit them.
I'm actually bringing this back around to say another important thing.
I get a fair number of asks and comments on my posts expressing sentiments like "human beings are a plague on this Earth", "humans ruin everything, we deserve to be wiped out", "humanity is inherently selfish, evil, and irredeemable".
I don't think the folks saying these things have bad intentions, I know their words come from a place of very understandable pain, fear, and anger. But to act as though humanity's impact on nature is inherently damaging and extractive is to erase thousands of years of Indigenous stewardship of nature. These ecosystems are thriving because there are humans living there.
This is your regular reminder that you don't need to feel guilty for being a human. You are part of nature--viewing humans as inherently separate from the rest of nature is actually part of the problem. You will be so much better served redirecting that guilt into supporting the humans who are helping nature or resisting those who are hurting it.

Industry says governmentâs failure to address cooling demands means AI growth plans are âfatally flawedâ
âThere appears to be an assumption that the country will always have enough water for its economic needs,â the briefing said. âNothing could be further from the truth.â In May, a House of Lords report said England faced a 5bn litre a day shortfall for public water supplies by 2055. Water UK said datacentres were already being built in water-stressed areas, with more than three-quarters located in the south and east of England. Millions of people in these regions have been placed under a hosepipe ban by water companies after prolonged extreme heat and lack of rainfall.
[...]
The government has designated datacentres as critical national infrastructure, on the basis that their loss or compromise could result in âmajor detrimental impact on the availability, integrity or delivery of essential servicesâ and âsignificant impact on national security, national defence, or the functioning of the stateâ. Oliver Hayes, head of big tech and campaigns at the campaign group Global Action Plan, said it was not clear why datacentres had been given this status, but that water companies may be powerless to restrict their water use as a result. This could risk datacentres being prioritised over households at times of peak water demand. âI think it is highly likely that weâre going to end up seeing datacentres that are actually running chatbots, or enabling people to do benign and very wasteful, pointless things, protected and given favourable treatment when it comes to resources,â Hayes said.

I had this freshman tell me she âcouldnâtâ audition because she was too scared of the stage, and might have a panic attack. I asked how she felt about walking around onstage in costume and not saying any lines. That was fine. I was like okay awesome letâs lay some groundwork now and maybe senior year you can have like three lines!
I remember this kid who came into an audition and froze up, just couldnât speak. Competent reader and speaker but when people were watching she couldnât do a thing.
We cast her anyway, in a chorus role. Offered her lots of support and encouragement and kindness and grace.
At the next audition she whispered. Anyone who had never seen her before would have thought she was the most nervous kid there. But the directing team was abuzz afterward. Did you see? She did it! Once or twice I could actually almost hear her! Amazing.
Got cast again, in a chorus role. Sheâd been making friends with the other kids, and they offered her encouragement too.
And the next audition we said wow I can hear her! Sheâs speaking! Letâs give her a handful of lines! She can do it!
Anyway as a mentor in the performing arts these things are huge wins for me. Some kids are competent and confident performers at 7 or 8 almost by nature. Others, even much older kids and adults, have to make progress by inches. But progress is exciting! The only place to go is up!
If a student is encouraged properly, theatre is one of the best sources of self-esteem, self-reflection, and both spontaneous and rehearsed eloquence/comprehensibility that there is. It truly could be considered a cornerstone for communication disciplines of all kinds if it just attracted the right people to teach it. (Unfortunately a lot of people are attracted to directing for a sense of power over others, and not an interest in mentoring and coaching.)
