Welcome to Chicky's Choices, where I share the foods I enjoy along my journey to finding a healthier and happier me. These are the things I've done; they may work for you, they may not. For years I have struggled with my weight, depression and multiple medical issues. I started this most recent path in February of 2023. I wanted to lose weight before having two scheduled surgeries in June 2023; lumpectomy of left breast and partial hysterectomy. I sought help from a weight loss doctor and with his guidance I changed my mindset and my diet. Along the way, I have realized that I needed to find alternatives to my favorites instead of eliminating the things I loved to eat. I try not to eat or drink anything artificial; no artificial dyes, or sweeteners. I also try not to eat or drink anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. I choose fresh fruits and veggies when I can over frozen or canned. I do some meal prep, but that is mostly because I work 5 days a week as well as tutor up to 3 days a week. I don't have time to cook a fresh meal each day so crock pot meals are a must for us. I try to eat something small (under 200 calories, potion control is important) every 2-3 hours, this is crucial, set a timer to remind yourself; I start around 6 am with breakfast and end around 6 pm with my biggest meal(I'm not sure of the calories of this meal to be honest, I focus on making sure it's healthy and well balanced). I end up eating around 5-6 "meals" or snacks a day and I have lost over 30 pounds. I still enjoy eating out with friends and family on occasion. I try to eat smart and enjoy my life and I hope my blog brings you joy and peace. If you have questions, feel free to ask them. I am not a nutritionist or licensed specialist. I'm just a woman trying to share what has worked for me and help anyone I can. Peace, love and blessings to you all. π
