Have a shitload of self-confidence. I don't care if you have a gap bigger than the Mississippi river in-between your two front teeth, you have to own that shit. Everyone has flaws, its what you do with them that matters. Hold your head up, smile, and don't you dare show any signs of weakness. Get those who surround you curious, get them talking, then hold their attention. People can not poke fun at you if you give them nothing to poke. You must establish a support group before you can establish a fan group. Every popular girl has a group of close friends that she does everything with. Round up a group of true friends, and you are almost halfway there, Once you have a clique established, figure out what kind of theme matches your set of friends. Whether its sports, chic, academics, band, etc. Finding out what works for your clique will help unify the group as one and draw attention in from the crowd. Once your clique is established, make sure everyone is uniformed. Which means everyone dresses in one way, fashion forward. (ex.
