It was rainy today so I thought the birds would love the rain too! 💦
One of my older female started laying eggs like crazy in the spring. She would find a nesting place, lay infertile eggs and throw them out when she realized they were empty. And then rinse and repeat.
How to stop this madness, I thought. At that time Oodi was also into nesting in feeding dishes and as I usually just remove the unwanted eggs, this time I waited for some time to see if there's any fertile ones.
I had offered a nesting box for lady Ito and her empty eggs and she had no idea what I was up to when I snatched some fertile eggs from Oodi and switched them with her eggs.
The father of these kids is moooost probably Eljas. He seems to be very fond of Oodi.

Look who's back in the flock!
It's Meimei! 💛
Meimei was born into my flock in 2019 to Isla and Juuli (the clutch D). My friend bought her from me and she lived in a flock of four budgies in another city.
I had her flock living with me for few months when she took a vacation in 2022. I asked if I could use her for breeding purposes during that time and she became a mother of L kids.
Now when my friends other birds passed away and Meimei was left alone, naturally I agreed to take her back to my flock.

I don't know... It makes me so frustrated to see budgies on social media that are attached to humans... birds that were (most likely) hand-fed from the very beginning to be as tame as possible. They’ve been turned into solitary birds and human companions—poor creatures that love mirrors and engage in sexual behavior with their perches, yet whose social needs a human simply cannot meet on their own. A flock... they are FLOCK ANIMALS. In Australia, a single massive FLOCK can consist of up to 10,000 budgies. Just think about that.
