                ✿               𖥦                𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒'𝑠   𝑎   𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔   𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑎𝑖𝑟   in   his   heart   towards   his   parents   .   zihao   feels   that   he’s   being   used   to   repair   bridges   they’ve   burnt   down   &   he’s   dragging   sujin   along   with   him   .   frustration   &   tension   plaster   the   walls   of   their   shared   apartment   because   they   didn’t   want   to   be   in   this   situation—   there   was   only   so   much   they   could   to   try   &   make   this   work   .   their   ‘   relationship   ’   wasn’t   too   rough   ,   but   most   of   the   time   they   were   on   their   own   unless   they   had   a   to   show   up   .   a   chuckle   rumbles   in   his   chest   ,   watching   sujin   react   to   his   antics   .   “   what   if   they   think   i   was   pregnant   ,   sujin   ?”   zihao   teases   ,   hoping   that   it   would   help   the   female   be   feel   a   little   more   at   ease   .   “   it’ll   work   out   ,   i   don’t   think   adults   would   like   it   if   i   drove   while   sick   with   a   passenger   ,   ”   he   wasn’t   sure   why   it   was   so   difficult   to   get   out   of   parties   like   this   one   ,   but   they   had   to   make   good   impressions   in   front   of   everyone   (&   he   really   wanted   some   fries   )   .   “deal—   it’s   my   treat   too   ,   but   you   have   to   go   inside   with   me   to   let   the   hosts   know   that   we’re   leaving   ,   ”   he   offers   a   hand   out   for   sujin   to   take   ,   not   wanting   for   them   to   be   separated   again—   he   knew   that   she   was   tired   ,   so   it   would   be   best   to   keep   her   close   .

                 ✿               𖥦                𝑧𝑖ℎ𝑎𝑜   𝑘𝑛𝑒𝑤   𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡   𝑡ℎ𝑒   𝑎𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛   was   going   to   be   on   them   for   the   duration   of   the   party   .   whether   the   interactions   were   pleasant   or   not   ,   he   knew   better   than   to   let   anyone   affect   him   &   sujin   .   he   also   knew   that   sujin   didn’t   want   to   be   in   this   kind   of   crowd   ,   so   he   was   trying   to   think   of   a   way   to   get   them   out   of   there   .   the   cool   breeze   of   the   night   soothes   his   tensed   body   ,   zihao   offers   sujin   a   smile   when   he   sees   how   his   jacket   pretty   much   engulf   her   figure   .   “   most   of   the   guests   are   drunk   ,   i   don’t   think   they’ll   even   notice   we’re   gone   ,   ”   he   raises   a   hand   to   playfully   ruffle   the   top   of   her   hair   ,   enough   to   tease   her   &   not   ruin   her   styled   hair   .   “   …   but   i   also   don’t   want   us   to   get   in   trouble   with   anyone—   i   can   tell   them   that   one   of   us   isn’t   feeling   well   ,   ”   he   suggests   ,   it   was   kind   of   true   ,   but   the   last   thing   he   wanted   was   for   people   to   starting   making   things   up   about   them   .   “   then   we   can   go   home&   order   takeout   ,   how   does   that   sound   ?   ”

              sujin   didn’t   understand   how   anyone   would   be   okay   with   being   paraded   around   like   she   and   zihao   have  been  .  her   parents   came   out   with   this   arrangement   out   of   nowhere   ,   and   sujin   wasn’t   prepared   to   suddenly   be   pushed   out   of   the   comfort   of   her   home   and   into   an   apartment   with   a   literal   stranger   .   she’s   gotten   used   to   living   with   zihao   over   the   last   few   weeks   ,   but   she   was   tired   of   the   parties   and   constantly   having   to   pretend   as   though   she   was   interested   in   talking   to   them   .   ‘   then   that’s   more   of   a   reason   for   us   to   disappear   .   ’   sujin   laughs   softly   and   gently   swats   at   his   hand   .   she   crinkles   her   nose   a   little   bit   when   she   realizes   that   they   truly   can’t   leave   without   a   viable   excuse   ,   so   she   nods   in   understanding   .   ‘   i   think   that’s   a   solid   plan   .   i   think   you   should   be   the   sick   one   this   time   around—   if   we   say   i’m   sick   ,   someone   might   think   i’m   pregnant   .   ’   she   was   sure   there   were   bound   to   be   rumors   with   them   leaving   early   ,   but   this   was   their   best   choice   for   getting   out   of   the   party   .   ‘   how   about   we   go   to   mcdonald’s   instead   ?   i   want   a   mccrispy   and   a   strawberry   oreo   mcflurry   .   ’

                  ✿               𖥦                ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔   𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠   𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑑   𝑜𝑓   𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦   in   the   hands   of   two   individuals   who   were   so   young   wasn’t   exactly   ideal   ,   especially   when   they’re   forced   to   become   adults   by   other   adults   .    the   pair   was   separated   as   soon   as   they   arrived   ,   which   he   didn’t   appreciate   as   he   didn’t   want   to   be   away   from   sujin   during   the   event   .   by   now   ,   zihao   would   think   that   he’d   get   used   to   the   attention   they’ve   been   gathering   lately   ,   but   it   was   becoming   exhausting   .   being   pulled   into   conversations   ,   receiving   backhanded   compliments   from   strangers—   he   was   running   out   excuses   to   get   away   from   them   .   zihao   felt   at   ease   when   he   was   finally   reunited   with   sujin   ,   immediately   moving   closer   to   her   frame   when   he   felt   her   touch   .   “   let’s   go   outside   first   ,   ”   he   nods   in   response   ,   gently   rubbing   his   hand   against   her   arm   for   comfort   before   taking   her   hand   in   his   as   he   guides   her   through   the   crowd   .   there   was   a   garden   outside   the   venue   ,   he   thought   they   could   stay   there   for   a   while   to   get   some   fresh   air   .   “   are   you   okay   ?   it   got   crowded   in   there   ,   i   was   trying   to   look   for   you   ,   but   i   kept   getting   pulled   away   ,   ”   he   took   his   jacket   off   &   draped   it   around   her   shoulders   .   “   should   we   make   up   an   excuse   to   leave   ?   i   really   wanna   leave   ,   too   .   ”

                    having   to   keep   up   with   pleasantries   and   boring   small   talk   for   the   better   part   of   the   last   few   hours   has   drained   all   forms   of   socialization   from   her   .   one   would   assume   she   was   used   to   it   since   attending   galas   and   such   events   with   her   parents   was   a   common   reoccurrence   ,   but   it’s   different   when   she’s   the   one   in   the   spotlight   .   she   was   so   over   this   party—   she   had   enough   of   listening   to   the   older   women   criticize   her   dress   and   her   hair   (   as   if   she   couldn’t   hear   them   )   and   the   women   her   own   age   who   clearly   only   came   to   boost   their   social   following   .   she   finally   felt   as   though   she   could   release   a   sigh   of   relief   once   the   distance   between   herself   and   zihao   diminished   ,   and  she   plastered   on   her   best   smile   when   those   around   them   instantly   began   whispering   to   themselves   .   ‘   please   .   ’   sujin   hums   while   following   zihao   out   of   the   venue   .   the   second   she   feels   the   cooler   air   in   the   garden   ,   she   feels   as   though   she   can   let   her   guard   down   and   no   longer   trade   unpleasant   pleasantries   .   ‘   i’m   fine   ...   just   tired   .   we’ve   been   here   for   a   few   hours   ,   haven’t   we   ?   ’   sujin   happily   accepts   his   jacket   when   it’s   draped   over   her   shoulders   ,   and   slides   her   fingers   through   dark   tresses   to   brush   her   hair   behind   her   ear   .   ‘   i’ve   been   thinking   of   an   excuse   since   the   moment   we   got   here   .   ’   sujin   allows   a   small   smile   to   take   over   her   features   then   .   ‘   what   if   we   say   the   alarm   went   off   at   home   ?   or   ,   we   could   simply   leave—   i   don’t   think   anyone   would   miss   us   .   ’
