I just wanted to let everybody know that I have taken a few days to really think about what I wanted to do in terms of muse, and I have come back with a decision that breaks my heart. I have decided to officially retire Martha as a muse. Starting this blog a year ago, I had high hopes for writing here and making great friends who I assumed loved history as much as I do. Instead, every time I have logged on here there has been drama, bullying, and yes even stalking. I have seen some incredible writers and friends scared away from this part of the rpc, or from roleplaying in general, because of exactly those things.

Simply put, I am beyond tired. All I want to do is write and love my muse and her family freely, while still being capable of critical thinking when it comes to the shit they encouraged and participated in. It has gotten to the point where playing Martha is no longer fun, and I feel like I’m always on the defensive over the Jeffersons, which is stressful to me before I even log in. I have also long been uncomfortable on this blog, which is not helping either. I think my time playing Martha has come to an end, it is time for me to let her go.

Once I came to terms with this, muse has been pouring from all over for muses that I have attempted in the past. So, I know now that I have solved my muse problem which seems to crop up here so frequently now. I just wanted to thank everybody who has spent their time with me here. Everyone I rp with and follow on this blog is incredible, and I hope you continue loving your muses, writing with beauty, and being awesome.

I am not sure whether I want to keep this blog up, but for now I will in case I ever want to come back (which seems incredibly unlikely). But most importantly, I’m keeping the blog up because I do not intend to leave indie rping. I will be reblogging a new promo here in a day or two, so people can see where my new main muse is. I made a blog for Claire from Outlander a month or so ago. I started her when it felt likely to me that I was not going to be accepted into college out there, and learning that I was accepted I feared I had not time with her amidst my move to Virginia, so, I tucked her away for a day when I had more time or was settled in. I started up her blog again and I will be there now, writing with much more muse than I have had in the past few months.

Katherine slipped a soft package into Martha's hands with a, "Happy Christmas." It's a length of blue silk, enough for a new gown and perhaps the front of a petticoat to match, a hard to find and dear present in this time of war. "I had it saved and I knew you would love it more than I ever could."

Martha took the present with an excited giggle , E A G E R to see what was in the package . Unlike her husband , who much displeased being fussed over during the holidays , or any other day , Martha received gifts with great joy . Her fingers expertly undid the wrapping , not leaving one rip or tear behind for she would repurpose the paper later . A soft GASP left her lips when she had opened the parcel inside . ❛ Katherine ! You shouldn’t have , this is too much to ever accept . ❜ Her eyes had begun to water slightly as she gave her dear friend a tight hug . Aside from her husband , Kat always had the most meaningful gifts give . ❛ I love it very much , and I will be sure to make a BEAUTIFUL dress out of this . ❜

Elizabeth’s eyes widened slightly at the reminder her mother would wonder where she was eventually. Not that her mother would imagine she’d gone far knowing her, she imagined. She was not that type of girl… while sneaking into sickrooms to visit people she cared about was. There would be quite the scolding to face when she was caught, and she would be caught, but she could not bring herself to care too much.

The invitation to join Martha on the bed was greeted with a soft giggle as the young girl clambered onto the bed, knowing she really should not be there. Laying her head on one of the free pillows, she patted Martha’s arm gently. “I don’t want to tire you… but I wanted to see you. Mama says you are not feeling well.”

Martha watched the young girl take her spot on the bed . Her husband went to great strains to keep their room child free , but Martha would not be surprised if there was a permanent child sized impression in their bed . Both of their daughters were invited to the couple’s bed when her husband was A W A Y , and sometimes they would wake up to find the younger curled up between then on particularly stormy or windy nights .

❛ Well , I might be feeling much better now that you’re here , ❜ she spoke with the most convincing smile she could muster , not wanting to distress the child by telling her how TRUELY sick she was . Martha pulled her hand out of the blankets to take Elizabeth’s hand in her own , squeezing it lightly . ❛ Please , tell me what your mama has been teaching you lately . Have you begun to read ? ❜ The request was simple , made out of genuine curiosity , yet meant to distract B O T H girls from the condition Martha was currently in .

The King did not just call for anyone. He had various way that he kept busy during the day, frequent visits with his advisors. But, he had noticed the woman, and he found himself intrigued. When he was intrigued, it was not always easy to deter him. He supposed he could have gone to find her himself, but that was not typically the way he handled things.

The women who tried to be noticed were the ones that he never noticed, whereas the women that he noticed were the ones that seemed to just live as normal life as they could, while they were at court. Court was an interesting place. He worked hard to entertain in the evenings, expected people to behave, in the ways that he wanted them to. That was just how things worked.

He watched her dip into the curtsy in respect. “I actually decided to summon you to come to me, because I found that other than your name and who your father is, I do not know much more about you. So, why don’t you tell me some things about yourself. I do not mean any ill will, nor am I trying to get you to leave. Blame my genuine curiosity.”

Martha stood in silence for a moment , genuinely surprised by his request to know her better . She had scarcely been back at court for long , where she had spent most of her time focused on mothering her son while settling in . To be noticed by the king DESPITE her simple life and father’s looming shadow was a great honor -- however one that took her a moment to comprehend . ❛ Well , Your Majesty -- ❜ , she eventually began , trying to think of a P O I N T to start with .

❛ I just recently came back to court after being away for some years , trying to raise a family and run a household . My husband , he -- passed away several months ago , ❜ she paused for a moment , attempting to hold back the flood of emotions that followed her words . The TRAGIC incidence of her husband’s death was still a fresh wound in her heart . They had only been married two years , before an unknown illness suddenly took him .

❛ -- I have a son , ❜ she continued , not wanting to D W E L L on details of her late husband unless they were asked of her . ❛ His name is John , and he is nearly two years old . It’s an English name , but it’s my father’s name too and his father’s before him . My father came to France when he was eighteen , and made himself what he is today -- he even studies the law . ❜ She stopped , looking at the king to GATHER his reaction , sure he would want to ask questions .
