i'm currently working full-time and often overtime, which means i no longer have the same amount of energy and time to do translations :’< i’ve also stopped playing mlqc for a long time, though gavin will always have a special place in my heart ♡

🍒 regarding my translation style

i'm fluent in both english and chinese, and have been formally trained in both languages since young. 

i'm aware that the official translations are in past tense, but i prefer translating in present tense because it feels more immersive!

The squad wrapped up work early and we got to eat piping hot beef noodles.

Interviewer: Eh? Officer Gavin, did you have a hedgehog in the past?

Gavin: She and I rescued it outside the Special Task Force. It's called "Thorny Jr".

Interviewer: ...sure enough, it has a name in line with Officer Gavin's naming style.

Gavin: She suggested the name.

Interviewer: Haha, the Producer has been completely influenced! Judging by the name, I'm guessing that it could have been good friends with Thorny!

Gavin: I didn't need to water it, so taking care of it was much less stressful.

Interviewer: What happened to Thorny Jr. afterwards?

Gavin: When it recovered its strength, the relevant organisation arranged for it to return to nature. This was the last photo we took before it was released. The little lad was sleeping in the blanket.

Interviewer: Thorny Jr. is so adorable. It must have been difficult to let it go.

1. Apple Pie

A sweet and delicious dessert that is often brought to the Special Task Force for the benefit of everyone.

Once it's warmed up, the moment you take a bite, even the worst of moods will instantly change for the better.

2. Red Bean Puffs

We've heard that these taste very similar to the ones once sold by the little stall near the entrance of Loveland High School...

The crispiness of the curst accompanied by the fragrance of red beans is amazing!

3. Carrots

Apparently, shredded carrots are needed to create authentic yuxiang shredded pork!

There's more than enough stored in the refrigerator.

Eating more of them can protect one's eyesight too.

4. Pork Ribs

They can be used for sweet and sour pork ribs, pork ribs soup, steamed pork ribs...

As expected, delicious things will come with a hundred ways to eat them.

5. Fish Balls

These are handmade and created with natural ingredients without additives. Fresh, dense, and springy.

Turns out that Officer Gavin could eat these over many consecutive days without getting sick of them!

6. Pineapples

Interviewer: What do the both of you usually do after work together?

Gavin: Water Thorny, supervise Sparky Jr. Jr. Jr. as it works, then go for a ride on Sparky.

Note: Thorny is his ball cactus and Sparky Jr. Jr. Jr. is his roomba.

Interviewer: Are there any small habits that you've picked up after being with her?

Gavin: I follow many food-related social media accounts and bring her internet-trending milk tea and desserts as soon as I can.

Interviewer: What do you do to relieve exhaustion for each other?

Gavin: I'd play the guitar for her, and she... gives me massages.

Interviewer: Do you act cute with her?

Gavin: Yes. When she gets angry and I can't coax her, that would be my "killer move" - even though my aim is to simply make her a little happier.

Interviewer: What's the happiest thing that you've done for her recently?

Warm and skin-friendly, they fit and bundle his hands.

Wearing them on cold days must feel very warm.

This is a badge of honour belonging to the Commander of the Special Task Force.

3. Recipe Book for Home-Cooked Dishes

Firecracker chicken, pineapple duck chunks, fried tofu... there are many home-cooked dishes recorded in it.

The handwriting of two persons are in it. They probably cook together often!

4. Couple Aprons

A pair of large aprons that provide a complete sense of security when tied on.

One is pink and one is blue - a very harmonious match.

5. Soup Pot

Very suitable for making chicken soup. Simply looking at it makes one feel warmth in the heart.

It is smooth and delicate. A heat insulating hand guard is thoughtfully wrapped around the handle of the pot.

6. Couple Cutlery

The style is simple and not gaudy, and they look very durable.

Flower Rack

The ball cactus on the flower rack looks very moist.

Is it because someone often waters it?

There's an empty flower pot in the corner which is a little baffling...

Its name is Sparky Jr.? It sounds like a name with a history.

It seems like an industrious and reliable member of the family.

3. Model Aircraft

Protected by glass, it is carefully displayed on the rack.

It is assembled perfectly. The person who assembled it must also love the blue sky.

4. Medal cabinet

Gavin's medals are displayed in the cabinet organised by the Producer.

Behind this honourable display are countless crisis-ridden days and nights.

5. Darts

Darts are nailed irregularly to the map on the wall.

Are these meant to mark the places they have visited together?

It seems that the two of them have visited many places together.

6. Work Desk

The desk is very spacious, and all the folders are classified neatly.

A sticky note at the corner of the table reminds its owner to rest early.

Director: Officer Gavin, can we have a look at your house? Our programme has a home visit segment...

Gavin: ...I'll have to ask for her opinion first. This isn't just my home, it's also her home.

Director: Don't worry, Officer Gavin. Of course we have the Producer's approval!

Gavin: Okay then. Do I need to prepare anything beforehand?

Director: No need for special preparations. We just need to have a look at your house.

Gavin: Has the timing been fixed? If I don't have any missions, I can free myself for a day.

Director: It might be a little sudden, but can we schedule it today?

Gavin: Sure.
