‘ he can be fun but he also always makes me put back the wine that i try to sneak out so he’s not that fun. ’ charlotte let out a giggle before taking a sip of her water. ‘ mmm...i’m good ! but nothing new in my life other than i just watched that netflix romcom the half of it & it was perfect. what about you -- how’re you & roman ? ’

charlotte: omg your book looks so romantic 🥺

CHARLOTTE: i havent seen it do u want to set up a search party or something?

charlotte hated how complicated all of these questions were, they were making her brain hurt. as much as she loved studying at hogwarts, sometimes she wondered if she were better suited for the type of schools that muggles go to. but then again, those would also probably confuse the small blonde. she laughed at callie’s remark as well, figuring that they didn’t get the genius gene in the family. ‘ hm...rumor’s a ravenclaw so she probably knows all of the answers, right ? ’

“well at least we’ll be lucky by the end of this class,” charlotte said, trying to lighten the mood. she often felt that victoria was needlessly negative which contrasted with her happy go lucky attitude, and that was probably one of the reasons they had never gotten along. “okay, sorry.” charlotte felt a little bad for implying that victoria would hex her, but she was still secretly worried about it. “it says the next thing we need is a squill bulb. do you see one in the box we were given?”

charlotte was excited to get to spend some more time with ryder. she had always had a great relationship with his sister, aylie, and they had always gotten along really well in group settings. the hufflepuff had never really spent that much time alone with him, but the idea of sitting by the lake and eating snacks appealed to her. she remembered her first time at the lake, during the very first time they arrived at hogwarts just short six years ago. as soon as she arrived at the lake, she spotted ryder and made her way towards him. “did you bring any good snacks?” the blonde asked as she sat down next to him.

charlotte knew something was up when she got an owl from aylie, asking her to come over to her dorm. the two were close, but they usually met at places like the dining hall or library. and aylie made it seem urgent. so charlotte rushed through all of the moving stairs and passwords in order to get to aylie’s dorm room as soon as she possibly could. she knew that her friend needed her. she knocked on the door softly before coming in and sitting on the bed next to aylie. “hey,” she said in a soft voice. “what’s going on?”

charlotte was studying in the library with her study group, as per usual. she looked at her notes, flowers and hearts doodled on the margins of the pages. by the time they were done going over their notes, charlotte realized that she still had homework to do for another class. she told her study group that she had to go do her homework for transfiguration. she got up to go to the section that had the book that she needed, she hesitantly went towards it as it was near the restricted section; the idea of doing anything remotely against the rules made charlotte nervous. she glanced towards the restricted section while she was getting the book from the shelf and noticed cleo coming out of it. as the slytherin passed by charlotte, the blonde couldn’t help but utter the words, “you know, you’re really not supposed to be in there.”

charlotte tapped her quill as she waited for victoria to finish reading. she normally wouldn’t have found this annoying if it were anyone else. but something about victoria always managed to get under her skin. maybe it was because they had been hostile towards one another ever since they had met, or as hostile as charlotte could be towards another person. charlotte shrank a little when she heard victoria’s response - it seemed that she had annoyed the other even more, which was why she tried to phrase her question so politely. she sighed and replied, “sorry.” under her breath she muttered, please don’t hex me. “yeah, we put the whole thing in and then we heat them together, i guess.”

charlotte glanced over at victoria, trying to get a read on the other female. it was so hard for the blonde to know if the other one really hated her as much as she thought she did. they had always had animosity towards each other, and this certainly didn’t help things. she sighed, thinking that this would be sort of class where she would do all of the work while the other just leeched off of her. because despite not being good at potions, she still tried. “i don’t think so because it says a whole egg,” charlotte replied, in a small voice. peering down at her textbook, she grabbed the horseradish from the box and said, “we have to add this horseradish and then heat it.” she grimaced at the pungent smell. “hey, do you uh...do you mind maybe trying to do a little bit more? i don’t want this to be the type of thing where i do everything because that doesn’t seem very fair.” charlotte tried to put the request as nicely as she could, but she knew that part of it was the fact that as much as victoria didn’t like her, charlotte wasn’t too fond of the other as well, so that slipped in through her voice.

charlotte had long since given up on trying to friends with victoria. ever since her first year, it seemed like the other had it out for her. the most she could hope for now would be to get through this class together as partners without one of them hexing the other. the blonde’s friendly nature clearly wasn’t vibing well with victoria, evident by her response and general behavior towards charlotte. “i don’t really understand a lot about potions, but hopefully we can just get through this,” charlotte said, in a somewhat chipper voice. she was always the type to try to see the silver lining in a situation, even one like this. she stared at the board as well for a second before grabbing her textbook from her bag. “okay so the board says to make felix felicis so that means the first ingredient is an ashwinder egg.” she found the egg in the box they were given and plopped it in the cauldron, which subsequently sizzled. “is it supposed to do that?” charlotte asked with a wince as she hid her face behind her textbook. 

charlotte stared at her homework, frustrated. she was a good student, that was for sure. she always did her homework and tried her best. but she just never understood any of it. she bit her lip as she looked at the questions that seemed to make no sense. she let out a sigh when she noticed her cousin in the common room. charlotte gave her a small smile and waved her over. ‘ hey, what did you get for question 12 ? ’ she asked, looking up from her homework. ‘ this stuff is so hard. ’

charlotte dreaded potion’s class. not only was it one of the classes she had trouble understanding, but this year they decided to do something new. to make partners out of people from differing houses. something about ‘ putting the rivalries behind us and coming together as one ’ which is something charlotte would’ve usually been in favor of. but when she saw who was assigned to be her partner, she grimaced. victoria and her had never gotten along, ever since she was a first year. she wasn’t sure what it was but they were obviously complete opposites and there was something about victoria that charlotte just didn’t get -- why she was so aloof and mean. she sat at the desk for their potions class, tapping her quill to ease her nerves about having to be partnered with her. when victoria entered and sat next to charlotte, charlotte gave a smile, trying to make this as painless as possible. ‘ are you ready? ’ she asked the raven haired girl.

clubs : art club ( president ), magical creatures club, apparition, astronomy club leadership positions : hufflepuff prefect 

Victoria: Yeah, because people are the worst!
