 "something of that sort, i am sure."   she can’t say this delicate lace is her style,  no.  but it’s intricate.  pastel.  pretty.  she prefers bold,  vibrant,  bleeding in strength.   "thank you, kind sir. i will be sure to inform my mother the great lengths it took to get her these.”   not that the woman would care,  but what would the man know ? "besides, i do find local craftsmen are craftsmen for a reason, not due to nepotism. is such boldness not a thing for the women of london?“

“oh there is nothing wrong with being a flatterer for it makes those of us who don’t get as much attention still feel as though we are still noticed,” pausing she gave him a small look with a raised brow, “so long as you are meaning no ill intent or getting some pour lady’s hopes up only to dash them all,” primrose jested. “you are quite the breath of fresh air, can i ask why it is only now that i am running into you?”

her head dipped ever so slightly at his words, her lips still curled into their apologetic smile before she glanced back up at him slowly. "ahh but if i did not apologize then my mother would surely have my head for not being proper," she rambled softly with a small tilt to her head. "no i am perfectly alright, just feeling a tad silly for not paying attention which will change this very moment," ophelia stated with a soft chuckle and a shake of her head.

she felt a heavy sigh escape her, it was the same words she always heard whenever her mother was mentioned and it grew exhausting but she shoved it aside. “well my mother does not venture out much as of late so it’s the least i can do when something such as this comes around,” she mused softly as she turned her glance back towards him. “and you sir are nothing but a flatterer, does this kind of talk work on all the ladies?”

so far the fete had been fun and exciting, she was loving every minute of it. ophelia was glad that she had let her mother talk her into coming to the event she had almost chosen to stay home. with some precious goodies tucked into her purse that hung on her wrist, the young cavendish smiled softly as she strolled down the lane, she didn't even notice him until she had ran head first into him. "my deepest apologies my lord," she breathed as glanced at him apologetically.

josephine didn’t know why she had attended the fete, she would have preferred to be at home doing nothing. enjoying the silence instead of being surrounded by those who tried too hard to impress others. even now as she listened to the mans comments she couldn’t help but roll her eyes slightly as she pursed her lips. “does that work on everyone or are you simply bored and trying to find your next victim?” she questioned with a small scoff before glancing up at him.

he gestured toward the lace on display, his dark eyes momentarily twinkling with genuine admiration. "but I must admit, my compliments to the lace vendor were sincere. however, i find myself far more captivated by the enchanting wit and refreshing honesty of the lady before me."

Eloise blinked. She hadn't expected that at all. She never thought that people would compliment her. "I somehow doubt that."

"And why is that? A lovely young lady such as yourself is something that would catch many men's attentions." for once his words were genuine, a kindness in his voice that he reserved for few. To see a young woman so clearly doubting herself was a pity, and if a few charming words could cheer her up then he would happily do so.

         she knows he’s not talking to her,  dark eyes flashing up through painted lashes,  pale fingers gently picking up the lace  -  and ji-won chooses to make a power play.  to get to know the people in london,  how they react to a woman with her mannerisms,  without the title,  but with all the money.   the day her brother died,  the day she got far better at reading people.  "my mother adores pieces such as these, madam -“   and her voice is a bit louder,  nimble fingers scooping up some of particularly expensive ones,  head tilting to the side.   head tilts up towards the man,  head tilting to the side,  and back to the vendor,  before dropping a small  ( but obviously full )  bag of money on the table.   "i am sorry if i interrupted you, my lord. once i see something i want, i must have it."   the lie slips easily from painted lips.

"I've never enjoyed them. I would much rather be out in the garden exploring."

she had been so lost in thought, looking for the perfect piece when the new voice had made her jump ever so slightly. “my lord,” she stated in an apologizing tone paired with a simple nod of her head, “yes the pieces here are quite lovely. i’m currently looking for something to take home to my mother, she has always been fond of work such as this,” she commented before shooting the person behind the stall a kind smile.

"my lady, your thoughtful intention to bring something exquisite to your mother warms my heart." gabriel replied, his velvety tone carrying genuine admiration. "you have a discerning eye for beauty, just like your mother, i'm sure. allow me to assist you in finding the perfect lacework that will make her heart soar."

"I'm giving up on it all. If you need me I'll be in the garden."

"come now, the festivities cannot be so dreadful that you're fleeing so early on can it?"
