Besides the fact that it feels like Aloy should have the Gang on the main quest with her to support the main theme of the story, rather than leaving them to their homework and undertaking one side quest with each, I feel like we had a whole lot of missed opportunities wrt them interacting with the Tenakth and responding to the lands they find. Varl and Zo looking at the strictures of the Desert Clan and coming up against Regalla's forces (especially because Varl surely fought Red Raiders in the past as well as Zo). Erend happily stepping into the melee ring and emerging as the resident champion's new favourite guy. Kotallo getting to explain how much of this land was hostile territory for years, before he found himself patrolling it. All of them learning to read the past with their Focuses and coming to appreciate how the half-understood echoes of the Old World became foundational myths for new cultures. Kotallo learning just who the Ten were! Aloy gradually coming to realise that she has a band of people who do see the world rather like her!
