Luke and Leia enter an old temple and get stuck in a Force trap, stuck in their ideal worlds. Things get even more complicated when Darth Vader gets pulled in, too.
Thinking about how Luke basically saves the galaxy with heartfelt diplomacy, and Leia gets to strangle a Tatooine crime lord to death with a giant chain, and given their respective backgrounds probably no one would have correctly guessed which of them would go on to do which deed.
leia organa truly has one of the best bait-and-switch character introductions of all time because when you meet her she's this brave, stoic picture of elegance and justice and always knows just what to say to vader and tarkin and is clad in white like an angel and is this perfect two-dimensional archetype of pureness of heart. and then approximately half an hour later into the film she meets luke and han and she IMMEDIATELY shows her true colors as a sarcastic, bitchy control freak with a massive impulsive streak and a deep mine of hyperspecific insults. 10/10 character design i'm obsessed with her

i told myself i was done griping about sotr, but making burdock be haymitchβs best friend and confirmed covey relation just cheapened so much of haymitch and katnissβs relationship from the hunger games. katniss isnβt some random spirited kid from the seam that haymitch sees himself in. sheβs not a girl that he takes one look at and, after decades of losing kids says βmaybe this one could be a winner.β he doesnβt call her sweetheart to irritate her, knock her down a bit, because he was once a cocky kid who thought he knew the extent of the capitolβs cruelties, and he needs her to listen to him. he doesnβt try harder to be sober because of these two random kids that come into his life, shake it up and remind him what it is to love.
nope. instead the narrative gives him no choice but to love her. how could he not? she wore pigtails like louella, she knows lenore doveβs songs, sheβs got burdockβs blood and maysileeβs pin. he feels guilty for how he handled his friendships after the quell, and now heβs given this perfect moment to atone for it. and imagine youβre a parent, you knew haymitch when he was younger, saw him running around with burdock everdeen. heβs been considered the joke of the district, a horrible mentor, and yet, you see him stepping up as a proper mentor for katniss, his childhood best friendβs kid. it honestly makes him seem like heβs just a shitty person who canβt be bothered to see past his own grief for the sake of saving others some, except for when it comes to the people he used to be friends with. and, as if haymitchβs ability to do anything of his own volition wasnβt taken from him in the entirety of this book, suzanne somehow manages to strip him of his choices in the og trilogy too, and he can no longer choose to love katniss of his own accord.
