The only place I can currently pay my medical bills at doesn't exist anymore FUCKING AWESOME
you can't say "hey has anyone noticed that M/M fic outnumbers F/F like 100:1” or “it feels racist that only 3/202 characters on the ao3 top 100 ships list are Black and two of them are Alastor HazbinHotel” bc some ppl will start going like “oh so you think we should FORCE people to write about things they DON’T CARE ABOUT for WOKE????” and you’ll be like “no, i’m pointing out that the conditions that created this disparity are informed by racism & misogyny” and ppl will say “it’s not BIGOTED to only care about WHITE MEN” and then the gargoyle king appears
common advice for social anxiety is to tell yourself "people aren't going to think less of you just because you said something a bit daft" but the thing is. sometimes they will. and you just have to learn to be cool with that and to treat it as a dnd random encounter rather than letting it ruin your whole day
Fascinating how what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine can change over time. The rebranding of being a horse girl into being a stereotypical feminine girly trait needs to be studied.
Look at classic children's novels. As recently as the 50s and early 60s, being obsessed with horses as a girl was depicted as strange and tomboyish, and the very concept of being obsessed with horses from early childhood and loving toy horses and desperately wanting your own horse being a "little girl thing" and not a "little boy thing" would send someone from the 1800s and earlier into a coma.
There's maybe a point to be made here somewhere about how when keeping and riding horses stopped being necessary to the functioning of society and became a more "frivolous" thing, it was rapidly rebranded as silly and girly and for women, but what do I know.
i wrote a paper in my masculinity studies class in college about this exact phenomenon, specifically about how high heeled shoes started as a practical way for Persian cavalry to keep their feet on their stirrups, then likely due to that association, became a popular fashion item and status symbol among the upper classes of Europe, before the Great Male Renunciation of the 18th-19th centuries, when men started shunning opulence in favor of utility, leaving them as a fashion item for women instead.
I've joked that the two genders are Aesthetic and Utility before but thats just kinda the case

rb to give prev head
God I tried to nail down what exactly a "family friend" is and short circuited like an evil robot given an impossible logic puzzle. Head exploded and everything.
I hate that if you've ever been through psychosis you are expected to literally never talk about it just because it freaks other people out
girls using iPod Shuffles as hair clips
I've been trying to think of a way to lay this out for a while bc it is the #1 most common concern that I see expressed by people who are uncertain about antipsychiatry, like, by far, and it requires a sort of perspective reframe that can be hard for me to put words to. I've had like three ppl express some of these concerns in the last couple days alone, some of them good friends (hi Alex!) and I wanted to just make a public post about it, bc I think it trips a lot of people up.
People will ask me: how can I be antipsychiatry when I rely on the psychiatric system to obtain care? How can I oppose something on which I rely to stay alive? Which I think is really understandable, given the somewhat misleading name of the movement (and there's several names for it already, none of which really are illuminating to people outside those circles, which I think is a big communication problem. But I digress.)
When I say I am advocating for the abolition of psychiatry, I'm not saying I want to abolish access to care. What I am saying is that I want to abolish the institution of psychiatry as the gatekeeper of that care. Currently that's the only way you can access the care you need, and that's a huge part of the problem! It's like... of course it would be incoherent to say "you can't be anticapitalist if you rely on corporations to survive," because of course the system is designed so that we must rely on it.
So what I am advocating for is the replacement of psychiatry as the sole avenue of care with other models, models which prioritize autonomy and remove hierarchy and coercive control. Peer respite in place of involuntary institutionalization, informed consent models of acquiring medications rather than forcing people to go through medical gatekeepers who hold enormous power over them and largely do not see them as real people, etc. There are many, many forms that proposed alternative ways to access care can take.
I get it! I also take meds. I also have to rely on the systems that hurt me. For me, being antipsych is about saying "it is fucked up that we are forced to rely on these harmful, hierarchical systems to access care. We deserve something humane. We deserve to be the ones in control of our own treatment. We deserve to have our autonomy valued and protected and prioritized. Psychiatry does not offer us these things, and its structure at the core ultimately prevents it from doing so, due to its hierarchical nature & inherent power imbalances. This is broadly applicable to many of our current systems, and saying so is not the same as making an argument that we should simply not have any systems at all.

the real problem with the t4t dating scene is how hard it is to avoid playing magic the gathering or slay the spire
These are the two games I play the most
This is really funny I only know these games because my dad loves them. I thought they were dad games LOL
"sex should be less stigmatized and talked about more" and "you should always make sure people who dont want to consume sexual media that you present dont have to see it" are two statements that can and should coexist. by the way.
I made a Steven Universe OC because like why not. I really love the clutter in this that was my fav part!
I have a whole list of places that I really don't think people should be bringing dogs (unless absolutely necessary like service animals). People are like so way too normal about it. I've seen dogs in all these places and I need their owners to be like social shunned for this.
- Restaurants (unsanitary)
- Grocery Stores (unsanitary)
- Parks (dangerous to children)
- schools, though I do make a exception for like therapy dogs who are trained though I much preferred when my high school did goats (dangerous to children)
- other peoples homes, unless you get like a 100% enthusiastic yes but lowkey I still feel it is rude to ask (This is incredibly rude and how I got attacked the first time)
- bars (dangerous for people and the dog)
- university campuses, as in when people treat them like parks and bring dogs, you get a pass if you live there and walk your dog (people live there it's rude)
- inside gas stations (unsanitary, just unnecessary)
- Hospitals and Dentists (dangerous and unsanitary)
- farmers/summer markets (dangerous with all the crowding, unsanitary)
- retail stores that are not pet stores (no reason to do this, like I just don't see a point. It's not like particularly dangerous or sanitary but I'm judging you)

I have never understood why people bring dogs to playgrounds, like first off it's not like the wouldn't have more fun in a general park. But more importantly that's a dangerous fucking animal?? Other people do not know your dog and dogs are not always consistent in how they react to things. I feel like you're just putting kids in unnecessary danger for shits and giggles. Like yeah it's probably fine most of the time but why risk it? Like for what? So you can intrude on a space not meant for dogs? If I was a parent strangers bringing their dogs around would bring me so much anxiety.
