     his  body  aches,     hardly  numbed  by  the  morphine  pumping  through  his  veins.     bandages  cover  his  hand     &     eye,     or  rather  where  his  eye  had  been     [  .  .  .  ]     hesitant  in  the  way  his  good  hand  rises,     pressing  itself  to  her  cheek:     forcing  himself  to  believe  she’s  really  here,     that  he’s  no  longer  locked  in  a  torture  chamber.     &     despite  everything,     he  smiles.     it’s  weak,     but  genuine.     he’s  safe  with  her.      ❛     i’m  sorry.     ❜     sorry  for  being  kidnapped,     sorry  for  coming  back  half  the  man  he  used  to  be,     sorry  for  worrying  her,     sorry  for  every  mistake  he’d  made  in  the  past.     he  wishes  he  had  something  better  to  say,     had  any  of  his  usual  wisdom,     but  he  draws  a  blank     [     he’s  just  grateful  to  be  back  with  her,     to  be  in  the  process  of  healing     ]     .     ❛     i’ll  be  okay.     ❜

     it’s her first week back on the field since her injury:     still counting her blessings,     knowing it was a miracle she survived,     much less still able to walk.     she isn’t used to cane being gone,     but she tries her hardest to get along with lassiter     [     it’s not in her nature to hate people,     especially when they’ve done nothing wrong     ]     ❛     y’know good things happen everyday,     even if we don’t know it.     ❜     a sweet smile at her new partner,     NERVOUS to an extent     —     even after the shootout,     cane’s death,     months in the hospital,     not knowing if her career was over or not,     she still held samcro tight.     they were FAMILY,     even if they were on opposite sides of the law,     even if they nearly killed her more times than she can count.     she had to protect them.     ❛     i wouldn’t count on an arrest,     anyways.     the boys are smart.     ❜
