Finally a hand sewing tutorial on a hemline that isn't just the ladder stitch! the ladder stitch disappears when you tighten it, but it's not meant for hemlines because it breaks really easily! The overlock stitch is more stable, so it holds much longer, and it won't pucker or warp the fabric!

I finally finished my friend's birthday gift! 💚 It was my first time making the skull flower squares, using this type of bag construction, and I also learned a little tunisian crochet for the straps. Ngl, I'm pretty proud of how it turned out

I just realized that the reason why I hate sewing my knitting and crocheting projects is because I could never get my pins to actually hold my projects together and I don't like the lack of control I feel with sewing. I recently got some clips to hold my hand sewing projects together and decided to use them on a crochet project, and I'm crocheting it all together and it's such a game changer.

To everyone working on a sewing project right now:

If you realize you messed something up, and your immediate response is, "I won't undo that. No one will notice..."

The RIGHT NOW is the ideal time to take a little break. Turn off the iron. Turn off the sewing machine. Go outside. Eat a piece of toast. Drink some water. Look at a cat. Walk away for like ten minutes.

Don't talk yourself into ignoring something you'll regret ignoring just because you have momentum going.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go un-sew all this lace that I put on upside-down.

I have found that the way to be "good at sewing" is to be "good at dealing with your mistakes in sewing"

Honestly that goes for knitting/crocheting too. That day I realized I was good at knitting is the day I figured out to fix a mistake in lacework several rows down without frogging anything

And sometimes you frog half of your first sweater because you've learned that you Did It Wrong in several different ways, but *now* you're *fast enough* at hooking that doing it over again just makes sense.

If its structurally sound and the pattern is not messed up and no one will notice it. I don't fix it.

If its a mistake in crochet I will only frog if its within 1 row. If I didn't notice it for hours and hours and its structured and the pattern works, I'm not frogging.

If its a mistake in knitting, I wont frog but I will drop a stitch column all the way down to the mistake to try and fix it and then hook my way back up to the working row.

I was originally just going to make one to test out the idea and now I have the enby one on my bag, two being shipped off to two of my friends (I've dubbed them the ShinBaku flails for obvious reasons lol), and the tiny pastel one which I might sell

I kind of burnt myself out of big projects after finishing the 6 day star blanket (pictured on my king sized bed), so I'm now making little flail keychains. I'm going to attach them to keyrings with chainmail, like the rainbow piece (I'll be attaching the non-binary ball to that one). Overall, I like the look of the tan one the most so if I make more, I'm going to have to get more of the small screw-on cones.

So, I'm kind of getting into leather working. I got a $40 kit and leather dye from a nearby store and I'm really enjoying it, but my hands are not. The joints closest to my palms are swollen and my fingers hurt because I didn't take breaks like I should have, but this is definitely a fun craft to get into.
