self care with blade is very intimate. not in the way of sex or things like that, it's in the way of how much trust he is putting into you
today, he did not go to work because you wanted to do a self care day. he wasn't one to protest when it came to you, so he agreed and let you do whatever it was you wanted to.
you started by brushing out his long hair, carefully untangling the soft locks while he sat on the edge of your shared bed in front of you. if you were paying attention, you'd be able to hear soft sighs of contentment escape his lips.
and then, he took the hairbrush and did the same for you. if you have shorter hair, then he will run the brush through your hair and give you a scalp massage as well (which is actually really nice, you had no idea he could massage like that).
if you've got longer hair, he'll do a few locks at a time, kissing the top of your head where each gorgeous lock of hair flows out and move on to the next. you lean up against his muscular chest, and he pays attention to every reaction to gauge if he's doing it right or not
then, you lead him into the bathroom and run a bath, applying charcoal face masks to both of your faces. he wasn't very thrilled about this idea, but you had then commented about how he doesn't do enough for his skin and needs to take better care of it (which, there's really no need because he's immortal and will keep this form for the rest of time, but he accepts to make you happy).
he steps into the bath first. he then pulls you into his chest, burying his head in your hair as you sigh, leaning back into him. you take turns washing each others hair and then get out once the water runs cold.
that then pretty much ends the care routine, but it could keep going if you ask for a massage or mention giving him one. he'll give you a massage in a heartbeat, and he's really good at it, too. he always finds a way to loosen your muscles, it seems.
he'll never openly admit it, but a massage from you is probably the best thing he's felt in a long time. after each massage you give him he turns into jello ๐ญ

boothill and self care don't really go together.....
it's not like he wouldn't help take care of you if you asked, but he's pure metal. put him in water and he'll probably start a power outage. short circuit, if you will.
but the biggest thing about a self care day with him is brushing and washing his hair. because even if he had little to no human qualities left, he's still got that long lucious hair
he lets you do whatever you want with it (besides cut it. cutting that hair for him is a hard no). but you can wash it with whatever products, put oils and remedies in it, you name it.
you normally start with shampoo and then apply a leave-in conditioner when the shampoo is rinsed out. you take the time to let the conditioner set by brushing through his long, white and black locks before washing the conditioner out of his hair. you then scrunch it up in a towel, adding a dead end treatment remedy into it (even though this man wouldn't have dead ends, it smells good. and yes i am referring to my own hair care routine what of it...)
after that's all done, it's his turn to help you. you'll normally be the one doing your own hair-washing, because the one and only time you let him wash your hair the ridges of his hands pulled some of it out and you could swear it was the worst pain you've felt in a while. but what he can do surprisingly well is paint nails and give nice hand and foot massages.
so that's what self care day became for you both. he paints your nails (or if you're a guy who doesn't like that, simply gives a massage or anything you want him to with your hands/feet) and he massages. you swear he was a nail technician in his past life.
but afterwards, you feel like a whole new person. no more knots in your hands and feet, and you don't have to worry about getting leg/foot cramps in the middle of the night.

blade was known for being cold and reserved. but you somehow cracked through that tough exterior and got into where his heart lays.
and proof of that is right now, where your propped on the couch, and blade just arrived home.
as soon as he walked through the doors, he hastily walked over to the couch before kneeling and kissing your forehead. you smiled at the gesture, taking his head in your hands and sitting up slightly to kiss him square on the lips. you could feel him slightly smile beneath the kiss, making you giggle just a little bit.
"so, how was your day, bladie?" you sat up, sitting now while patting the spot next to you, in which he didn't hesitate for a second to sit on. he nodded, replying in his usual monotone voice, but it sounded a little... softer.
"it was alright. i thought of you," he replied as he leaned into the back of the couch, wrapping one arm around your shoulders and leaning his head towards you.
that sentence alone meant everything you need to know. he's never been one for words, and you had to accept it when you agreed to start a relationship with him, and so you got used to making the seemingly smaller things a little bit bigger. you smiled, leaning you head towards him before gently colliding heads.
"i thought of you too. missed you," you yawned after the sentence was finished, prompting blade to pull you into his lap. you got over your initial shock real fast and situated your head into the crook of his neck. "missed you really bad."
he kissed the top of your head, not saying a word, simply basking in your warmth. he could feel your eyelids flutter closed against his shoulder, another yawn escaping your lips before you eventually fell asleep.
blade sat with you for a couple minutes more before carefully sitting up, holding you steady against his torso with one arm, relying on your grip around his neck and your legs situated around his waist before standing up fully and clasping his other hand into the one keeping you situated. he walked to your shared bedroom, carefully undoing the covers and setting you down, tucking you in before going into the bathroom to wash up and change.
he soon accompanied you in bed, getting comfortable before rolling over and pulling you into his arms. his grip was nothing short of gentle, his calloused hands rubbing circles on your belly and slowly closing his eyes.
he kept that up for a few minutes more before eventually whispering an 'i love you' and going to bed himself.
โง at first, he is very hesitant to truly let himself be in a relationship
โง what if you've only got malicious intents? what if you want to use him for his money, to shame him for being the last avgin, to try to turn people against him, even some unreal shit he thinks up through nightmares. he'll always hide those thoughts behind his smooth, smitten poker face.
โง but as the months go by, he gets more comfortable, relying on the thought that you're not as bad as he made it out to be. he can trust you, you're not out to get him. you truly love him, and you remind him every night.
โง once he really gets comfortable, his soft side comes out. and it's really soft and sappy.
โง he's truly just a drained, tired man who wants love. and he devours every bit of it you give him. cuddles? whenever there's free time. he's gotten so used to the words 'i love you' spilling out of your mouth that he can't settle at night without hearing them, and they lull him to sleep so fast
โง he also loves bathing with you. taking a bath with your back against his chest, or maybe even vice versa. it's an act of major trust and much intimacy, and he thinks it's probably the closest to true love and trust anybody could achieve. he likes holding you close sometimes, but others he just wants to be held and pampered, the weight of the day being massaged from his shoulders with your soft hands.
โง he really doesn't want to involve you with anything even close to the IPC. you know his line of work, and you both agreed you'd stay out of it. but he fears them taking you hostage to get back at him, or using you to their advantage if they don't like an action he had made. it haunts him at night.
โง speaking of haunting him at night, his nightmares are very reoccurring. poor boy can't catch a break, and neither can you. he always looks like a sad puppy, waking you up in the middle of the night with tears in his multi-colored eyes. his nightmares are usually about his childhood, how he was enslaved and used to others benefits. he always explains the surface details to you, and you hold him close until you both fall back asleep.
โง he absolutely spoils you. you saw this super nice purse earlier? oh, baby, what makes you think you can't have it? it's sitting on your shared bed as we speak. a bracelet that caught your eye? he's slipping it onto your wrist. everything is yours if you want it.
โง this also means dates with him are very lavish. the nicest restraunts known to mankind will be booked for a night out. you'll have the prettiest of dresses/suits to choose from for the occasion as well.
โง baby is so clingy!!! if he could help it, he'd stay in bed with you all day everyday and simply bask in your welcoming presence. maybe some idle chatter too. but unfortunately, that's not reality, but he will hold onto your arm and groan out about how he deserves '5 more minutes of your time' and then closes his eyes, rubbing his cheek against your arm.
โง this poor guy is so traumatized, but the moment he layed his eyes on you he knew that he'd have a chance at something more than what he used to be. you turned him from a shell of a man to somebody who has a will to live, a man who has something to look forward to everyday and more so, a reason to live.
