You decided to go to the grocery first. You had breakfast, took a quick shower, and went straight out of the house. After walking a couple of minutes to the supermarket, you were surprised that the sun started hiding behind the grey clouds. It looks like it’s going to rain. You dug inside your tote bag and ended up finding out that you forgot your umbrella. You started to walk quickly.
Pat, pat, pat.
Big drops of rain started falling from the sky. Dammit, you thought. The supermarket is not far away, why does it have to rain now?
You clutched your tote bag on your chest and started running. The rain poured harder, you can see the supermarket is already only a couple of meters away from you, but you decided to stop over by a waiting shed.
Your hair is dripping and you’re scared that the money you threw inside your bag are already soaked wet. You stayed under the waiting shed for a couple of moments.
When you decided to run back under the pouring rain, you felt someone stood beside you and started pacing with you; the rain stopped falling on your head.
You looked up and saw a tall guy smiling softly down at you. He held a yellow umbrella over your head, and you felt like the sun has just appeared again.
You stopped walking. He did the same thing.
This is the first time you’ve encountered a kind stranger, since your mom firmly believed to the “never talk to strangers” kind of stuff.
“Uhm.. I’m sorry…” You didn’t know why you said sorry, but it was the first thing that came out of your mouth. “I’m fine, you can go ahead.”
He shook his head, “No it’s okay.”
You stared at him closely, and as you look at him more intently, his face started to look a bit familiar.
“Excuse me, but have we met before?” you asked him.
“We go to the same Math class this semester,” he reminded you.
Your eyes widened, finally recognizing him. He sits a couple of rows from you inside the lecture hall.
He nodded, “Yep. I’m Jooheon.”
“YES. Oh my god. I’m sorry, I didn’t recognize you.”
“It’s okay. We never really actually talked for the past meetings, I just see you around campus all the time,” he said. “Anyway, where are you heading? I can walk you there.”
You told him that you are heading to the supermarket. The two of you walked there together, talking about your boring professor, and the other classes you were surprised that you are taking at the same time.
The wind suddenly blew hard out of nowhere, you automatically leaned closer to Jooheon while Jooheon automatically put his arm around your shoulders protectively—when he realized what he’s doing, he quickly pulled away, tilting the umbrella at your side to protect you from the rain. He looked straight ahead, pursing his lips together, his dimples showing. He’s cute.
When you finally reached the supermarket, he said, “Don’t forget to always bring an umbrella next time, okay? See you at class next week then?”
