Ingo made a deal with a pokemon and he’s banking on the hopefully reciprocated love he feels for the man in white he barely remembers

It’s from the mythical pokemon Victini

Reshiram and Zekrom have gone missing. Unova needs a pair of major legendaries to stay balanced. The minor legendaries and mythicals have been panicking and causing chaos across the region ever since. Each of them have presented pokemon to stand-in for the dragons, but each pair have fallen from grace in quite the spectacular manner

Now it’s Victini’s turn to pick!

Ingo and Emmet are summarily appointed as temporary gods

Ingo is definitely the one I think of as a healer half the time so I think he’d fit pretty well in a hospital/pokemon center emmet is a lil more high energy so i think he’d do better in emergency situations rather than anything to do with bedside manner

Poor Ingo and his eternal frown the locals will get used to him yet

It’d be fun if in a pokemon setting if the two live in a small idk frontier town and run the only (idk wild west style? steampunk?) pokemon center and it looks over the train tracks into town

They run it together with Ingo more in charge of interacting with the trainers/locals and basic healing as the pokemon center is a rest stop

Meanwhile Emmet specializes in pokemon care ranging from eggs and breeding to fighting and subduing a wild pokemon to treat them

Of course they help each other whether battling or caring for patients

Melli has the advantage of living on Mt Coronet, and is fueled by the audacity of his “enemy” warden not knowing the tense history of their clans to properly appreciate him

(and showing up the Pearl Clan by educating Ingo ‘properly’ eggs Melli on more)

Calaba is a warden and an elder and of the opinion that the clan elders can eat rocks if they’re going to give Sneasler a warden without giving him a proper education or survival skills

Zekrom is tired. He’s been tired for what feels like an age. Splitting from his other half. The war. Fighting his own people. Reshiram winning back his heart stone. Becoming kings.

It’s been so much.

He just wants to sleep.

He doesn’t think he’d sleep so long as to end up in a new age though.

Fashioning a nest on top of the long plush not-throne that smells like home and the strange but familiar smelling coat where he found his heart stone hidden away in a secret chest pocket leaves him feeling a little more secure after something rattled his stone enough to wake him.

“Ingo?” The name is unfamiliar but the voice, clipped and energetic yet missing that building edge of stress and irritation, is one he’d recognize anywhere.

He croons back, wariness crackling down his spine and charging the air around him.

Loud footsteps rush down the hall. Reshiram slides into the room on soft socks and scrambles over, his own chirr of worry rusty and squawking at the end. He’s different than Zekrom remembers him.

His eyes are yes brighter and free of the dark marks from too many nights up ruling a country that was suddenly theirs. He’s wearing a simple buttoned shirt, so different from the layers and armor they usually don. Perhaps the most glaring difference is how soft he is, fluttering over Zekrom with worry and confusion clear on his face. This is not King Reshiram, god of Truth, conquerer of Ideals. But it is his brother, his other half, his eternal love. It’s in his every move as Reshiram- Emmet, he insists, blankets him in dozens of tiny squirming Joltiks. The bugs latch on with fuzzy legs and ticklish fangs, eating up all the anxious, wary electricity leaking from him, leaving him relaxed for the first time in months.

Instead, they receive their first pokemon (litwick and tynamo) as young adults

They get to have all the fun strange experiences with training pokemon while also starting their first jobs working on the Unovan railways

Wildlife Surveyor Emmet AU

Emmet is researching pokemon in their natural Paldean habitat for the Profs Sada and Turo (he offered to catch them for their research, Prof Sada suplexed him to get it into his head that that’s not the point)

When Emmet returns from out in the wilds researching Grafaiai it’s revealed that Ingo post-PLA is also at their lab, working as a research assistant with the professors to revive old Hisuian pokemon forms

Profs Sada and Turo work together (Prof Sada researches into the past, Prof Turo researches new tech like fossil revivers) and helped Emmet find and then fetch Ingo from the past so Emmet is working as a research assistant to thank them

Ingo and Emmet are currently on (depot agent enforced) leave from Gear Station for a certain number of months to recover from everything

Being research assistants in Paldea is quite different from their usual jobs but they’re enjoying the work and grateful to be together again

Team Plasma got the drop on them

Some grunts snuck onto the Multi Line and ambushed them after the Bosses lost to a pair of determined challengers but before any of them could heal their teams

Ingo and Emmet are tied up and tossed into a locked room

Their best hope is to wait for their Depot Agents to notice the situation and come save them

The challengers managed to slip away so the whole station should know about the attack soon

Obviously, people are freaking out trying to find the big ol’ undo button.

After the game story, Arceus grants the three of them, MC, Ingo, and Zoroark, one wish each for helping save the world. Ingo asks to be sent home. Zoroark wishes to be reborn as a human so he can fall in love with Ingo all over again.

As I said in that post, dividing and limiting the settlements really helps with getting my inspiration flowing and keeping things consistent. This post we'll go over Diamond Clan, Pearl Clan, Ancient Retreat basically anyone outside of Jubilife Village (including Volo gonna bring him up again cause he belongs here)

Most of the clan members are unremarkable NPCs so they can be whatever pokemon found in their region. Personally I don't remember any of their names or personalities so I'm not picking distinct ones like last list. The Wardens aren't included under these rules obviously. The only really important characters are the leaders. I decided as an added challenge that I really wanted to make the leaders Hisuian specific pokemon. It puts a spotlight on their duty to the region and plays into what they can learn as pokemon.

The Diamond Clan are turned into pokemon found in the Crimson Mirelands. Adaman is a (Hisuian) Goomy. Turning into a Goomy is a bit of a nightmare for Adaman. He's slow and a bit slimy and falls asleep if he dries out. He's used to being the strong, confident, and overly punctual leader of Diamond Clan. As a Goomy, he has to learn to rely on his partner pokemon and clan if he wants to get anywhere at a decent pace. He struggles with how the transformation has ruined his reverence of Almighty Dialga's time, but he'll learn to adapt a different way to honor it.

The Pearl Clan are turned into pokemon found in the Alabaster Icelands. Irida is a Hisuian Zorua. I'm debating if the clan runs her out thinking she's causing a mass hallucination, but I think Glaceon, Espeon, and Flareon will stand up for her and eventually the Wardens will visit and back up the story as well. (As I'm sure everyone knows,) Zorua were created by human cruelty, and came back to inflict their own cruelty on humans. It's a vicious cycle Irida will learn and eventually work toward mending. As a Zorua, Irida is welcomed into the Zoroark packs as they see a lone baby Zorua. Even after they learn about the transformation, they still watch her because they've developed such a strong pack dynamic to survive in the wild. She has to fight her own biases against the Zoroark and Zorua, and grow to recognize the Zoroark line are sentient creatures with feelings and not just monsters. She will grow to understand that by previously ordering the clan to hunt down Zoroark and fostering the cycle of violence that they are more alike than they think, and it's her duty as leader to bring peace between these pokemon and humans.

Ancient Retreat is a bit of an odd case because it doesn't really have any wild pokemon (I don't count Enamorus). But! I did decide on which pokemon the two (kinda fitting Volo in here though he doesn't exactly fit) and coincidentally they both can be found in the Cobalt Coastlands.

Cogita is a Glameow. Something about her tired eyes, fancy clothes, regal demeanor (okay that's probably just me but), and the giant white flowers on her hat remind me of Glameow. (Debated making her a Hisuian Qwilfish but it didn't vibe.) She doesn't have much of her own story besides Enamorus hanging out with her as a baby pokemon, but I really want Volo and her to reconcile. She's willing to forgive Volo once he has his whole character arc and comes back begging for forgiveness from the one (idk religious? cultural?) personal connection he has. She's pretty cold to him in-game but I think they matter more to each other than they show. Kind of like cats.
