#it used to be my grey velvet tuks. but the sole is falling apart and i need to fix it #so rn its an unknown brand japanese running shoe with dr scholls like slip in soles #theyre comfy and at least black #ive been wanting a pair of red docs for years theyre the number one shoe i want #or even a doc copy cat. chelsea boot style. I'll settle for a black one.

one thing that sucks about allergies / chronic illness is having to avoid things with fragrances. i only bought cruelty free and vegan products for years in high school only to realize as an adult that the heavy fragrances were triggering a lot of crazy allergy symptoms. but it sucks because so many cruelty free products that are readily available for me are created with fragrances. i avoid essential oils too not just artificial. there's a body wash i recently started using that is working great for me but it's not cruelty free and it makes me sad.

im bad about ordering soaps and cosmetics online. i have to buy them in person bceause i wont remember to buy them when i need them. hence the readily available to me part. i have not found a single fragrance free / allergen body wash near me that is also cruelty free.

i have to do this with all cosmetics. and my laundry detergent. my deodorant isnt cruelty free either :( i tried a couple brands but they didnt last for me. especially after starting T. so i just stick with the same brand that works for me. my makeup is probably the only cosmetic that i use that is actually cruelty free. i dont wear makeup often tho. only when i go out and feel like putting effort in but even then it's really only eye liner tbh.

#i used to love lush products but ive learned that i really cant be using any of them. because there's so much fragrance #they're also pricey ! but i loved the quality and anti animal testing / vegan activism. but they were causing me problems for years adn i #had no idea ! :(

i never really got it when people made posts about light pollution and seeing all the stars for the first time and crying. i always assumed that everyone has gone on a road trip to a bortle 1.0 place and seen stars like that, and it's fantastic, but not like life changing. and then i went to europe last month and was in a mountaintop village of like 300 people and could see about 5 stars in the sky. like fewer than i can see from my home in a big metropolitan city.

I can finally share this, this is a piece I did for the official book tie in (The Shards Guide to Being Hot & Rich) for the FX series The Shards. I still can’t believe this, this is my first real project 🥹 I really don’t get to do a lot of stuff like this because of my niche.

A note: I did very much do my research for this. You can find sources from the early 80s using the term “punk” to refer to things we would definitely call new wave now. The Preppy Handbook even references so called “punk preps”, that enjoy music like Talking Heads, but obviously through today’s lens we would call that new wave and not punk.
