Destination, Miscalculation
"You’re a liar Mr. Dewitt! If you had to go to New York you’d have told me. You think I’m a fool you can just string along?" She hated how her voice cracked and betrayed her emotions.
Elizabeth looked about her frantically for some escape, but they had already started moving and she was stranded. But there, right behind Booker, there was a wrench resting on the controls. If she could just get around him! She launched forward shoving her full weight (which admittedly was not much) against him hoping she could knock him off balance for just long enough to wrap her fingers around the heavy metal. She wasn’t sure what Booker was planning but she planned on fighting him every step.
"No, Elizabeth, you don’t understand—" Booker saw her move before he felt her push into him. He half caught her, holding her with a desperate grip so she couldn’t wiggle away. He had no idea what she was planning so he couldn’t protect himself. He simply tried to stop her, assuming she was going for the controls.
"Elizabeth, it isn’t that simple! I wanted to tell you but you would have never left that tower if I told the truth."
Elizabeth struggled against his grip, almost doubled over as she reached for the dashboard. Her finger managed to brush against the tip of the wrench but she cursed as she only managed to push it further away. Her desperation was giving way to any attempt at stealth.
"So you thought you could just keep lying to me? How long did you think you could keep the wool over my eyes? Were you going to land in New York and think I’d not notice?" She continued to try and twist her way out of his grip she wouldn’t be able to keep it up for long. Slowly she stilled herself, her anger turning in to despair. If there were some sort of tear she could open she’d be able to do something but they were thousands of feet in the air and it was hopeless. The tears came quickly once the adrenaline began to ebb and she gave another last attempt to wretch out of his grip. "Let go of me!"
Booker was still under the belief that she couldn't possibly hurt him. Her only salvation off that crazy statue, all that they've done in between. Kid knew how to hold her own but it wasn't cluelessness that blinded him but mere assumptions. He let go of her, thinking she'd feel subtly in control while he tried to talk his way out of this one. He was going to be chewing on his foot either way.
"No of course not, I was going to wait for the right time to tell you. I'm not even fully certain I was going to let them have you, not after--not when we've been through so much!" He tried, a weak attempt at at an explanation. It was better than nothing. He figured half truths was better than nothing. "Had I told you from the start you would have never left that tower with me. I said you before, they went through great lengths to keep you locked up in that statue! Did you think some random stranger just went up there to save you out of the kindness of his heart? I wouldn't have even known you were there if it weren't for the people in New York."

Hello! Oh, this is wonderful! Oh, come dance with me, Mr. DeWitt!
Destination, Miscalculation
Booker found the girl, but now it was time they got on up out of this place. Headed for an airship, he planned to just hop on and set a course for New York and be on his merry way. He did not expect the girl to sidetrack as she did. And with such ease, Booker didn’t know what hit him. Something about Elizabeth just reached out to him, warmed his soul before he hardened again with the thoughts of guilt he harbored.
Booker had no intentions to lie to her. However it seemed Paris was the only way she’d agree to come along. Now, after all the fuss that’d been kicked since they left the tower, Booker thought it may be time to tell the truth. His hands hesitated as he set the course, turning around just in time to see Elizabeth jump her way into the aircraft. He took an unsteady breath before he smiled wide and blinding. “We’re almost out of here. Now we can sit back leave this place behind. Say goodbye to Columbia, you won’t be seeing it for a long time.”
"That’s certainly what I’m hoping for." Elizabeth laughed lightly, sparing a glance out the windows. She couldn’t believe she’d truly miss something she’d seen so little of. Who felt homesickness for a prison? No. From her view of the window she noticed Columbia begin to distance and the realization the airship had started move hit her. She was finally going to Paris! The thought sent butterflies coursing through her.
Elizabeth turned back to Booker resting her hip on the banister next to her. “So, have you ever been to Paris before, Mr. Dewitt?” Her eyes glanced at Booker and then past him to the coordinates above his head and a slow sinking feeling soon silenced the butterflies. “No… No. What is this?! Those aren’t the coordinates to Paris, Mr. Dewitt, those are to New York. What are you doing?”
"I haven't actually..I hear it's a beautiful place."
He thought he had more time. He thought he could pull the wool over her eyes for a tad longer but she seemed to know a lot more about the outside world than her prison let him assume. Probably all those books, there had to be some facts among all the fantasy. He held up his hands, stepping in her path to keep her from the controls.
"Now wait just a minute Elizabeth..hear me out. We need to head to New York first. I have a few people I need to see but then I promise. We'll go to Paris, just calm down."
