I abandoned the idea of drawing him without the pants due to the damn hassle with tumblr's mature algorithm.

Thank you so much @totallysilvergirl for your kind comment, it is what made me write this post. I kind of hesitate to post this because I fear to get on people's nerves with my shit.

Short version: I struggle to keep my head above the water.

Whenever I think something like 'it can't get any worse' it turns out to be naïve. It can. There is a lot of space underneath rock bottom.

Part 1 of my Sherlock life drawing series:

Charcoal pencil + a bit of watercolour and cross-hatching

I love that when painting digitally I can keep the skeleton and angles layers (it is fun to start by drawing a rudimentary skeleton). The second picture shows those layers and my first try with ink lineart, the latter didn't work with me so I redid it with a charcoal pencil.

There are youtube videos recreating that time limit thing but I also wanted to do Sherlock fanart too, so I thought how to combine it. Spent an entire evening to find every piece of unclothed Cumberbatch I could find online. Sine the source material was often low res or grainy adding a time limit was impossible because I had to draw some things simply by guessing or combining it with other reference material - and that took time. It absutely changes the game to not have a time limit (meaning: slightly boring). So I decided to add another challenge: different brushes/techniques.

At first I put it all in one big compilation but soon realised it was robbing something from the single poses and seperated them again, which means I am gonna post it as a series.

I wanted to 'sherlock' most of the poses: so I changed the hair and/or the accessoires. For some pieces I even tried to adjust his weight to make it more Sherlock. Hope it worked.

If anyone feels inspired to post some Sherlock or John life drawing, too, I would be delighted, also @ me to make sure I don't miss it.

I guess this is the moment where I have to face the fact that I can't really use my drawing tablet any longer without replacing the screenprotector.

It has become almost impossible to draw in the middle and even during Inktober last year I already tried to mainly draw on the sides due to the scratches.

The thing is I am horrified to have to replace a 50 cm wide protector. Replacing a 10 cm one on a phone is already not easy, but this.... And it costs 45€ if I mess it up.

Yay, first Sherlock art since Inktober last year - finally.

Being not able to move or work much (and having a sick note) gave me time to do some art. It was hard to focus and this took ages because I feel I am a bit out of practise after four months.
