the tears streaming down his face as he's gotta brute force it and avoid his gag reflex. the pain is secondary to the overwhelming urge to purge this thing out of him.

using the environment around him to aid his efforts. at risk of tearing his throat to shreds of course.

and the exhausted relief when he slides to the floor. chesting heaving. he still passes out, but now he has a chance. if the poison doesnt kill him.

Leon's words are still shaky, slurred together by his clumsy tongue, but he thinks he can keep them clear if he speaks slowly. "So, human experimentation, huh? How do you apply for something like that? Is there some sort of ethics-free graduate program I don't know about?"

"Subject appears agitated," the woman remarks dryly, tilting her head towards the tiny microphone Leon can see clipped to her collar. A recording? "Please just relax, Mr. Kennedy, you're in good hands here."

Thinking about fevers. Burning hot skin and flushed cheeks and bright eyes. Shivering and painful chills, coughs and laboured breaths. A heart pounding against ribs. Babbling and nonsensical words. Characters spilling secrets or fears they would never admit if they were well. Talking about things that make perfect sense to their feverish mind and world, things that make absolutely no sense to their worried caretakers.

The dizziness and the headaches and the roaring sound of rushing blood in their ears. The restlessness, despite the stabbing pain every movement sends through their body. Limbs like iron weights, heavy and hard to move. Characters pushing and fighting against their caretakers, trying to get up from their place of rest, even when hands push them back down, a cold cloth to the head and soft murmured words of, "Shh, it's okay. Just rest. You're okay."
