Slight vent!! TW: mentions of bullying and one mention of drugs

Honestly, I would never really appreciate being called "fun", if the context was that I'm fun NOW. Like I do find it incredibly fucking imbecilic and rude to just say to someone "you're boring" or ANYTHING along those lines. Like I don't CARE if you don't seem to find it a big deal or all that harmful to do that to someone, what you are literally doing is demeaning them for their personality/who they are. Like YES, someone could have an interest that isn't something so fucking normal. You don't do drugs and ruin your life at a young age?? Boring. You don't watch smth like Euphoria or Obsession?? Boring. You don't generally have interests that more "normal" ppl would like?? Boring.
Now it's different if you say that and you mean it in a way where it's like, the person was only "boring" before because they never really engaged with you during the time you spent together. That isn't even really boring, just...inattentive? Idk. You're not trying to criticize the way they are as much as you're just like "oh you're more fun now bc we talk more!" Not LITERALLY saying they are/were boring just lightly joking about how you guys engage more with each other now.
But even that changes if they may have trouble socializing due to neurodivergence (which I understand a bit better because my little brother has AuDHD).
I guess what I'm really trying to say is, don't call someone boring! Someone has an interest and what the fuck is it to you, pal?? And pretty much the only exception is the one I mentioned before. Otherwise, I lose respect for you if you namecall someone like that and potentially affect their sense of self, maybe even internalizing in them that their value is tied to these arbitrary rules about how to "be a normal human". I'm sorry someone's not another carbon copy friend for you, and not your property to boss around
Sorry if I came off a little extra here, this is just kind of an issue that hits a bit close to home for me.
