Celeste Wilkes

Elijah wasn’t sure why he suddenly was beginning to like the idea of having her as his girlfriend, especially since he hadn’t ever dated anyone before. Maybe the betrothal was behind it in a way, but only in the sense that it gave him the chance to actually open up to her. His feelings that he was quickly gaining for her? That was all him and had nothing to do with their predicament. “I think you can.” At least, he hoped. “Don’t forget what I told you the other night. As hard as it might be, I want you to put the betrothal out of your mind. Forget about the engagement, about the future. Think about right now in this moment, what do you want? Do you want to go on a second date? Do you want to be dating, as you put it?” He wanted to know what she wanted and that alone was a first for him. He had never really cared before about putting what someone else wanted above his own needs or wants. 

She didn’t want to be having this conversation. But, she especially didn’t want to be having it in the middle of a corridor. But there really was no getting away from it. Which left the question of...what did she want? If she told him no she knew she would be doing that mostly out of stubbornness rather than it being what she actually wanted. And she was trying her best to ignore everything else. To just think about right now. But it was hard. Especially when there was so many other things at stake. Other decisions she has made that could affect everything. However, she tried to shove those thoughts aside and just focus on now. “I’ve never dated anyone.” She told him. As if that was reason enough for her being hesitant to tell him even part of how she was feeling. “But I suppose another date wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen.” She confessed and cursed herself for starting to blush. She liked spending time with Elijah. And she found herself thinking about him when he wasn’t around. She just didn’t know what to do with those feelings. 

“Seriously,” he agreed with with an annoyed eye roll. “Him and Evans. Two completely half-arsed jobs in less than two months. I don’t know who did either, but they need to be fired.” He took a drag from his cigarette before adding “Merlin, the Dark Lord deserves better than this. I can’t imagine he authorized such lazy work, these had to have been rogue players.”

"At least someone has done something." Celeste muttered quietly. She didn't want to be impatient, she really didn't. But she had made her choice and having to just sit around and wait was driving her mad. And the fact she was starting to feel guilty for her choice wasn't helping either. "At least they are scared. As they should be. They needed a reminder that they aren't safe and they sure as hell got that."

“Agreed,” he said with a knowing smirk. He loved these conversations with Celeste. She was one of the few people he could be one-hundred percent himself around, so they were like a breath of fresh air. “Once this is all over, Hogwarts will be so much more civilised like it used to be. Can you imagine? A mudblood free environment would be so fucking serene, I don’t even know what I would do with myself I’d be so happy.”

“It does sound nice. I mean they truly are just a waste of space. Like that idiot Hufflepuff. With all the trouble he caused he could have at least turned up dead.” Celeste very rarely actually voiced the real thoughts running through her head. They usually only came out when she and Lucius were alone. Which mean that everything she kept bottled up could sometimes come out harsher than she intended. “I don’t think I’d know what to do with you being that happy.” She joked. “Let's just hope that day comes sooner rather than later.”

          “That absolutely is not something I’m looking for,” she responded with a little laugh. Raielyn didn’t need an excuse to yell at someone. She practically wanted to yell at everyone. “Unfortunately, I think the professors would frown upon me hexing students and being unapproachable. There’s apparently something about being a prefect that means I have to be nice.” But Rai wasn’t very nice. 

“I don’t see why you have to be nice. Surely a little fear keeps people in line.” She chuckled. She definitely didn’t envy Raielyn. Being a prefect sounded like her own personal hell. And she was glad she never had to deal with anything like that. Or the dumb problems that came with it. 

Well, that was a relief. He was a bit worried that she had hated their date and never wanted to see him again. Eli was still sure she had been trying to avoid him, but felt it best to drop it. Whatever reasons she might’ve had weren’t his to know and she was here, now. “I would like to think I did. I thought I was an absolute gentleman the entire evening, even maybe a bit cute?” He still couldn’t help himself from teasing her, a cheeky smile on his face. “Does it, now?” He couldn’t remember ever having actually dated someone. Sure, he went on dates, but he had always found it best to not form attachments. But, he suddenly found himself liking the idea. “Is that what you would want, Celeste? For us to be dating? Because if it is, I would gladly call you my girlfriend.” Elijah had a feeling she was going to hate that word, but what else was he to call her?

Celeste glared at him when he teased about being cute. And she would have said something in return if he didn’t go ahead and mention the word girlfriend and her heart did an annoying flip that she wasn’t sure if it was dread or excitement. And that frustrated the hell out of her. She has never been anyone’s girlfriend. Casual hookups and one night stands were as far as she ever went. She’s never wanted anything more than that from anyone. But now...no. Wasn’t she meant to be trying to get out of this situation? “I’m not sure you can be someone’s girlfriend and be technically engaged to them at the same time.” She knew that wasn’t really an answer but she didn’t know what else to say. Because she was annoyed by the fact she would go on another date with him. But in the back of her mind, she just kept thinking that he was trying his best to stop her from getting out of the betrothal. That that’s all the cute comments were. And she hated that it actually hurt a little to think of this as being nothing more than that.

45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?

Death doesn’t scare Celeste. She knows its going to happen at some point and she fully believes that she is most likely going to die during the war. But, she hasn’t thought about what comes after that. Though seeing as there are ghosts she assumes there is a choice. But she doesn’t let herself think that far ahead considering she has no control over it really.

3. What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?

“That’s a very good question, indeed. Why would you be trying to get away from me?” Eli had already deduced that it had to be one of two reasons. Either she was embarrassed about the other night, especially when you added the teasing he had given afterwards. He probably shouldn’t have, but seeing her blush was quite endearing. Or, and he hoped this wasn’t it, she hadn’t actually had a good time and he had completely misread how their date had gone. “I have been looking for you. I can’t ask you out on a second date if I can’t find you, can I?”

“I don’t have any reason to get away from you.” Honestly, she was being stupid. There are far worse things she could have let slip. Though he was never gonna find that out. Her thinking he was cute was the least of her worries. Like the fact she almost smiled at the mention of a second date. She was meant to be making it hard for him to convince her to go through with their engagement. When right now the thought of a second date actually made her...excited. Plus, she can’t remember even going on two dates with someone before. “Do you think you earned a second date?” She asked him, tilting head to the side a little as an amused smirk crossed her face. “Two dates probably counts as...dating.”

After everything had gone down with Laertes, Orion didn’t know where to go. Most of his friends were busy with their own drama, and others were hiding out. All he wanted to do was curl up and cry, but he wasn’t about to do that in a dorm he shared with Belby. So he stayed on the couch and silently watched the flames dance in the fireplace. His gazed stayed fixated on the flames as his cousin began to speak, already feeling himself calm down a little. “You could say that,” He said softly and moved over for her to sit next to him, “You think anyone will notice if I switched houses with my brother?” Orion asked Celeste casually, using an old threat him and his twin used whenever one did something embarrassing. 

Sitting down beside her cousin, Celeste frowned before she leaned her head against his shoulder. “I would notice.” She said quietly. “Who would keep me sane in this place if you leave me for some annoying Gryffindors?” Orion is one of the few that she actually genuinely cared about. And while she wasn’t good at this sort of thing she didn’t like seeing him so obviously upset. “Do you wanna talk about anything? I can just listen if you just wanna talk.”

“Feelings are overrated,” he agreed quietly, eyes now lowered, staring at the wooden flooring. The last time he felt something like this was two years ago. Heartache was something he was good at avoiding. Normally. Slowly he moved to lay down on her bed, not really in the mood to drink. “How do you suggest getting over them?” Last time someone broke his heart, he decided to sleep with half of the school. It didn’t work as well as he’d claim. 

“Ignore them until they go away?” Celeste wasn’t the best when it comes to things like this. Since she has never been in a proper relationship feeling were a completely foreign concept to her. She was hiding out in this room for exactly that reason. “Or...you can actually talk about them.” She offered as she set the bottles down on the ground. Since he wasn’t drinking she wasn’t going to drink alone. “Wallowing in my bed probably isn’t the best way to deal with it anyway.” She teased lightly.

Elijah had rather enjoyed his date with Celeste on Halloween. The ending of it though, came to an abrupt end once the school had found out they had all been given truth serum and he had found out that she actually found him quite cute. He had been looking forward to seeing her again, but she had been hard to track down. So when he finally spotted her, he couldn’t help the immediate grin that grew on his face, but all too soon, she was running in the opposite direction. He wasn’t sure when he would find her again next, so he found himself running forward, running into others, until he was finally at her side. He lightly tapped on her shoulder, “Are you trying to get away from me?”

She didn’t need to turn to see who had tapped on her shoulder. She knew it was him even before he spoke and she knew she was being stupid for trying to avoid him. But it had seemed easier than...this. “Why would I be trying to get away from you?” She asked as innocently as she could while coming to a stop and turned to face him. In honesty, what she had said wouldn’t have been that bad if it weren’t for the fact she has never told a guy as being cute before. Not in the he made her giggle like an idiot kinda way, anyway. “I forgot something in my room that’s why I turned back.” She lied. “Why? Were you looking for me?”
