About 10 years ago I put the first photograph here on Instagram. It’s strange because for several years I published almost every day, but for three years I’ve let it slide. This is because I no longer saw the simplicity in the people who lived this unreal world, I had no more stimuli to make known what I was doing, just the minimum necessary.
Perhaps the answer came yesterday after meeting a boy, Leão, he travels the world by sailboat, has a small engine and always carries for three years his aloe plant, the queen of his houseboat. He stops only when he needs to work, for short periods and takes any job to live as long as possible by boat. From Europe he travelled between the Caribbean, Australia, the Maldives and who knows how many other places, he was satisfied with what the world offered him.
This way of living reminded me how easy life can be and of little pretensions, a bit like instagram at the beginning, a single photo, a small text and people who commented with sincerity. I’m not saying evolution hurts, but maybe it took that emotion out of a real story. On the other hand, I think it’s wrong not to have shared what I did, I needed to return to that emotion of starting over with something that created a real interest in me. I think it’s the right time to come back and introduce stories about the sea for those who understand that the obsession with the sea cannot be explained, it’s a way of life.
