As the semester comes to an end, the UNCG School of Dance would like to thank each and everyone of you for supporting our program! During this semester I have learned an incredible amount about the origins of dance and its history. I really enjoyed learning about the origins of dance and how dance came to be in different areas of the world. I especially enjoyed learning about the different artists from each genre of dance. I have danced my whole life but going into college I never considered dance as a major or minor because I did not think it would take me far in life. After learning about all the dancers, such as Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, and Yanet Fuentes, I have decided to look more into a dance major/minor because all of them have led successful lives. Aside from dance itself, I made so many friends this semester. There was never a dull moment in class, and I loved that. The acceptance of my peers helped me to become more comfortable and confident with my body while dancing, and I am super thankful for that. None of my academic and physical growth would have been possible without the support of our community, so again, thank you!
