p4: Blue is holding a chainsaw sword, and he’s wearing a hat to look a bit more menacing. His boots were redesigned as over-the-knee high boots to protect his legs from injury when wielding the chainsaw sword.
A bit of a redesign (just changed his color from blue to green. Honestly what was I thinking? He should 100% be green) as well as a quick sketch of what he would have looked like on his adventures before meeting the rest of the Chain! Logically, he’d be in his Hylian form for like 90% of the time but it was a lot of fun working his tunic design into his Mer form!

On September 25th, 2023, I posted the original character sheets for the Chain as Cryptids au. It had been a brainworm for much longer than that, but one year ago today, I mustered up the courage to share my silly little ideas. And I think that might have been the best thing that’s ever happened to me!
Over the course of this past year, I have found so much joy in these little guys. Looking back at the oldest CAC posts, I’m really proud of how my art has improved, I feel more comfortable sharing my stories, and I have made some of my closest friends. So to everyone who’s stuck around for this year and everyone that’s come more recently, thank you so much for allowing me to create! This has meant the world to me.
I will be taking CAC art requests to celibrate, but I’m going to be very real with you guys- Echoes of Wisdom comes out tomorrow. Please be patient with me if it takes me a while to draw haha. I fully intend to be sucked headfirst into that game!
So if you have a request, please send it in an ask so I can respond to it directly! I’ll pick as many as I can and I’ll draw them as soon as I have the time!
Two years ago today, I posted the original character sheets for the Chain as Cryptids au, and I could not be happier with the way things have unfolded. Two years later, and I’m still surprising myself with the story and pushing myself to make better drawings. This au continues to connect me with just about the most supportive community I’ve ever been in, and continues to introduce me to some of the kindest, most creative people I’ve ever met.
I’ll be opening up CAC art requests for a short time to celebrate, but please bear with me as I am a very stressed animation student, and things just got very busy!
To everyone that has joined me in the past year and everyone that has been here from the beginning, thank you so much! I hope to continue to create, and am so excited to see what the next year brings!

I’m kind of playing with the idea of Cryptid Lost and Cryptid Wild being just. Opposites. In terms of their magic? Like Wild is 100% light magic, he’s just a spirit guy. And Lost is kind of a vessel for dark magic. The two…….. don’t mix.
Wild can’t have potions because they’re made from monster parts which are actually poison to him. Because he is light and good and blessed and monsters are dark and evil and cursed.
And Lost isn’t evil, but that dark energy kind of clings to him. The rift on his neck is like… just a void. It’s not dangerous, it’s not spreading, it’s just. There. But that’s the thing about rifts! Anything that goes in them will eventually be destroyed. Literally their purpose.
(This isn’t canon…… I think. I haven’t decided yet)
Why is it always the super rough ideas that make me want to draw? (I’m complaining because I can’t figure out now to draw Groose)
Sky has. A very interesting relationship with Groose. Link was always very forgiving- he was a kind heart, always wanting to see the best in people. He was gentle until pushed to the extreme, and by the end of his adventure, Groose was his friend. Aepon was proud and strong. He loved Link enough to care deeply about how Groose treated him when they were young. He was kidnapped by Groose. And he doesn’t forgive him for that.
Sky, the combination of the two of them, is in a very weird spot. He wants so badly to be Groose’s friend, but also wants nothing to do with him? He wants to see the good in him, but is held back by memories of a tiny cave and a cruel smile.
And… Groose doesn’t understand Sky. He doesn’t understand that he’s not Link anymore, and got off to a bad start by refusing to call him Sky, treating him like some monster that took his friend away from him. This came from a place of grief- Link is gone and that’s so hard for him to adjust to. But when Groose treated Sky like he was an imposter, it only made him feel unwanted. Which led to his breakdown here!
So yeah. Sky doesn’t forgive him right away. Which Groose, who’s accustomed to Link, isn’t expecting. It’s like he grew wings and became a completely different person! (Hint: he did). Along with wings, it seems he grew a spine. (Haha imagine).
I had this idea (and made this comic) MONTHS AGO, but the ending was too much of a spoiler. I wanted to share it anyway! So I changed the way it ends haha. Only I know the true ending… you all will have to find out later haha!
Anyway Wild’s having Thoughts. That’s never dangerous, is it?
“Psh, he’s just. Afraid of me. I guess.” Time says, as if he is not deathly terrified of Sky.
New comic??? Twilight and Four feature??? Twilight confronting Time??? Four being protective of Sky??? TIME AND SKY MY BELOVED????

Sky and Pipit are 100% brothers and no one can convince me otherwise. They’re very close! This story takes place before the Zelda story. Here, Sky’s been merged for like three days at the most, and those three days were spent in Skykeep, defeating Demise (and literally everyone else) and then a long recovery (which is a battle in and of itself). So having this time to test his limits in a safe place with someone he trusts is very important!
I have many MANY more thoughts about Sky and Pipit’s relationship that are currently being condensed into a fic (hopefully I’ll be able to get it all written out soon) but for now, I hope this is enough!
