The Blixa Bargeld/Nick Cave shrine

It’s always been easy to see that this song is about Blixa, it has all of the elements that Nick uses in songs when he’s referencing Blixa, the astronomy elements in particular. This song also has the distinctly male icon imagery of Jesus. Nick has viewed Blixa as Godlike for years. But this is the first time that Nick has ever use the pronoun him in the song in reference to the lover that he leaves behind on the bed. In the first verse, instead of saying, “I left you behind,” he sings “I left him behind.” :O  Is it a slip up or intentional? Is Nick finally going to come clean about how many songs are actually about his muse, beloved Blixa?

From the montage at the end of 20,000 Days, 50-something y/o Nick looking over his shoulder and seeing Blixa, who of course, is no longer on stage with him. Man, the first time I saw it I boo hoo’d. In one of his red hand files writings, he talks about how everybody who has left the band are still present in various ways.
