I kinda realized how cursed Thomas looked in my reference sheets ππ
So, I decided to take another step to redesign him again, to look more... appealing. I really have a hard time figuring out how to draw his face because I don't want to babify him despite begin 27 in my au, but to look as accurate as possible to his canon face. He'll probably have the most design changes, so beware lol.
While I'm here, let's give Thomas some driver headcanons bc I can :P
1. Thomas (Billinton) is a 27-year-old tank engine driver who's usually asigned for shunting and short-distance runs. When he got his own branchline, he got busier than ever, taking passangers with his (in this au secretaries) Annie and Clarabel.
2. Thomas is a cheeky little fella, but he can be an amazing friend if he really wants to, and his friend status is determent by how often he teases you (the closer you're with him, less he starts begin a prick). He's really easy to talk to, very charismatic and charming with good humour. It's pretty easy for him to make friends, and clicks almost instantly with everyone. Despite making friends fast, he can also swiftly make enemies, especially when they're older and more strict. He hates begin bossed around, so attempts for older and tender engines drivers to befriend him were short-lived.
3. However, a character needs some flaws, right? At times, he can be a bit impulsive, immature and sometimes holds unnecessary grouges. He's very quick to judge anyone (example: Neville) purely by how they look and act. Obviously, within the series (and time), he grows into a better, much more mature person.
4. Thomas is one of the most impatient person you'll ever meet. So impatient, he can't even wait for the other person to tie their shoes mid walking!
5. Thomas' love language is definitely words of affirmation, and maybe even quality time. He loooves to talk, he goes into endless discussions about everything and anything with anyone. His quality time is usually just for someone to listen to him, and his words of affirmation is asking more questions about a certain topic, or just add a comment or whatever, just to keep the chatterbox alive!
6. Since Thomas is a human now, he needs some hobbies to keep him entertained. He definitely plays video games in his free time, sometimes with Percy too. He loves movement and to be on his feet, so hiking, photography, or even as simple as walking and exploring is something he throughly enjoys.
9. HATES hats. Like despises them. I think it could be sensory issues, but he wears scarves. Hmm... Maybe he just doesn't want to ruin his hair. I mean, fair enough.
7. His favourite season is summer, to the shock of apsolutely no one. He doesn't mind the sweat, or the bugs, or the harsh temperature or sun, he just can't stand snow, yeah.
8. Can fall asleep almost anywhere, on benches, on trees, on the streets, in a moving train, nobody know how he does it, but Thomas always says "If I fit, I sleep. As simple as that!". Very easy when it comes to booking a hotel or somewhere to sleep, it can be a trailer and he won't complain.
9. Nobody likes to play truth or dare with him. If you pick truth, he's gonna innocently ask for the most gut-wrenching and most personal question ever, and if you pick dare, he's gonna dare you literal death, like how he asked Gordon why does he never call Scotsman over for a family reunion (almost got beaten up), or how he dared James to eat three ghost peppers at the same time (had diherrea for a full week).
