Island of sodor lore I came up for my AEG AU because of free will part one: the railway
The North-western Railway is stated to be 75 years old (STH said his family ran the railway for 75 years) which gave me a thought: "When DID that 75 year mark start and what year does the AU take place?"
Well I've got two things
First
The railway began operating in 1945 (A cheeky reference to when the RWS began) and the current year of it operating being 2020... which we know what happened, could be a challange for the railway to keep itself running through the pandemic.
Second
The railway began operating in 1950, a year where Dieselisation was becoming a thing, with prototypes rolling out into the shunting yards of a handful of railway yards. STH 1st did notice the change thanks to word of mouth, and decided to take in any available steamie on the mainland "just in case those bloody higher-ups get any ideas" he said... which, we all know: came true when the big guys at BR started replacing the steamies five years later, and STH 1st and the engines he had tried to recover as mamy steam engines as they could... but they also brought some diesels in (Like Salty and lil' Diesel and MAYBE a few others)
How the NWR aquired engines and rolling stock from overseas, I will never know. Maybe he just somehow knew there were engines and rolling stock available and agreed to take them?

i can’t lie i couldn’t be bothered to draw their headshots. their hairstyles are the same though (minus thomas’s)
So I've been pondering about "fixing" All Engines Go, not "fixing" like making it just the RWS/Classic series.
No, What I've got in mind is; Aeg with lore that I thought of in my human mind, tweaked designs cuz I thought they needed some work (Srry Kana) and the musical numbers don't exist as much (Cuz I'm not a fan of the musical numbers, life ain't a musical, Thomas) and an oc is in there too, but I'll try to get 'em to work well, dw.
