When Flowers Dance
A Quiet Time Moment With Catherine
It was a hot summer day in the desert where I live.
They say that it’s better when it’s a dry heat. Even so, it’s still really hot. And when you’re out there walking in the desert in the early morning, most of the foliage is just so dried up it looks like it can never live again.
So on this morning, I was out there walking and I came upon a whole group of flowers thriving in the sandy desert floor with their faces to the sun, moving ever so slightly in the slow hot wind. They looked as though they were dancing. I thought, “These flowers can dance even in the hot, dry desert.”
And I paused to reflect on the truth those flowers seemed to tell about the dance.
Our life with the Lord is like a dance. He invites us on to the dance floor to dance with Him when times are easy and when times are difficult. In fact, the most difficult times are always an invitation to dance.
The Lord teaches us in Ecclesiastes that there is…a time to dance (Ecclesiastes 3:4 NCV).
Dear friend, always remember that in those times when your heart is broken and your spirit is crushed, the Lord is inviting you to lean into His embrace, let Him lead you, and then dance with Him.
I love the words of Lilias Trotter —
Take the very hardest thing in your life — the place of difficulty, outward or inward, and expect God to triumph gloriously in that very spot. Just there He can bring your soul into blossom. Lilias Trotter in Blossom In The Desert
So today, dear friend, no matter where you are or what is going on in your life, remember that flowers can dance in the desert, and say yes to your dance with the Lord.
There is a time to dance. And that time is now.
God bless you dear friend as you lean into the embrace of the Lord and dance with Him.
Dear Lord, thank You for inviting us to dance with you in an intimate, ongoing, vibrant relationship. Help us to always say yes to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
