culture shock .::. intro
imbalance the internal energies, huh. hawke thinks back to when leandra was still alive to tell her off for all the drunken parties at the estate. she remembers a particularly memorable night of oil wrestling, even. those nights had been forced out of the mansion eventually, which only lead to a dramatic increase in the number of pub brawls in the hanged man. canât win em all.
maybe it is a good thing that the girl did not know about the devils of drink.
"stay golden."
she blinks. what sheâs talking about sounds like mana.
"so youâre a mage? are your powers sealed off too?"Â with any luck, sheâll find someone in this place who would know how to get the restriction off.
"woah, what?" say what you wanted about hawke, but she isnât a fool. "why on earth would that be necessary? i think i would have to charge you a lot more than a bit of gold if youâre going to kill me outright" she wasnât even sure if she was really afraid of death, but she knows a shit deal when she sees one. being ripped off was never on the agenda.
"What is a may-jeh?â XiaolongnĂź asked, frowning. âI am simply a disciple of the Ancient Tomb Sect. I suppose I am a wuxia warrior too, though I havenât been in the jianghu for years nowâŚâ
"But I know I havenât been able to fly since stepping into this town," she added. "It is very slow, having to walk everywhere. That is why I am looking for help."
To be honest, the womanâs sudden outburst surprised her. Deals in the jianghu could be trickyâshe knew that much, after being the unfortunate victim in a few betray-and-backstab scenarios. A little caution and sacrifice seemed prudent.
"You will not die from the poison," XiaolongnĂź reassured her. "There is not nearly enough in these needlesâand besides, I have the antidote."
"And as for the rewardâwell, if I knew where my tomb was, you could have all the treasures inside. Thereâs an entire room, and I donât need them." She tapped her lip thoughtfully. "HmmâŚI donât think Iâll ever need any gold, besides to âbuy foodâ and âhire services.â"
An idea popped into her head.
"Oh, I know. If I find any jewels and treasure, Iâll just give them all to you! Would that work?"
Ah, perhaps she should sacrifice something of herself too, in return?
"AndâŚhmm. Do you have any poison on you? You could give me some, too. Then weâd be even."
"flying? is this the part where you tell me that you're a dragon?"Â
it's all very complicated, even for hawke. she didn't like complicated.
"i do like gold. i'll admit i've done a lot worse for it." between a bit of poison and meeting a ten foot drake in the underground, it's not a big deal. "i just feel like not poisoning anyone would be a lot easier to go about it, especially since you're really not risking anything but time." though hawke would say that there isn't a risk in any job that she's taking.
