You're being influenced by white people. You talk a certain way--or don't talk a certain way? You sound white. You wanna go to college? Going into a certain field, have certain interests, dress a certain way, listen to certain music more than others, why are you trying to be white??? That food? Black people don't eat shit like that. And I'm referencing 'black' mindsets broadly here but even among different kinds of black people the same thing happens, because there is no unified blackness. So even among black people there are judgements and discrimination and associating certain peoples with undesirable traits. Of course sometimes it's played for laughs or as social commentary too. But what I'm getting at is that it's not like 'Everything That Is Not Black Is White'.

(And obviously anyone who's been near publically perceived hentai has probably seen the 'omg only in japan. Only japanese people. The japanese are so weird and gross and awful and perverted.)

Why bring race into it? Because, especially in the US, a lot of people's racial and cultural identities are self-defined by what they do and do not find familiar. If you or your community would see it as weird or wrong it must be foreign. Nobody that you know is into that shit so it must be some Other that is--and sure sometimes the Others can have something good, but there's a reasonable chance that they don't.

It's also about frequency and awareness. Think of all of the real person porn you've ever seen, especially the kinky stuff. How much of it had non-white people in it without you having to look specifically for nonwhite people? People don't talk about sex quite like that--and if you go looking for porn you're not gonna see a ton of kink with non-white people unless the race is somehow part of the kink.

Of course if someone has a kink they may not know about it or think about it or wanna talk about it for fear of the reaction. . .and I think in a lot of black communities, especially poorer ones, there's the perception of "we have good sex [because black men have bigger dicks] so we don't need More Special sex" and "I have real problems so I don't have time for that."

But the perception is that white people don't have the same problems. They don't have the same stresses. They have the luxury to explore things like kinks because they don't have struggles and real problems. They don't have satisfying regular sex so they have to invent more complicated shit. They don't find each other attractive enough so they have to make up images and ideas about each other. We're More Real. We don't have time to let our minds and imaginations wander.

And I think a lot of white people have that same perception too so they speak ill of other white people or themselves as a result--somebody ssying 'white transfems are never normal' could be because white people seem to have more room to explore, which can send them off into places they "shouldn't" go.

Non-white people can be kinky and have fetishes--and we are and we do! But white people are easy to point the finger at for when it gets 'weird' or 'too much' or 'extreme'. Because they're peecieved to always have the privilege to explore those things. Because a lot of people with less provilege percieve the ability to explore in that way as a privilege they cannot afford to think about right now. "Normal" kinks are closer to home because there's less space in one's life to stray too far.

That's how I see it anyway. No matter the reason of course it's fuckin stupid to bring race into it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but it's a lens through which many people have learned to observe the world and the people in it, so it will continue until people learn to better understsnd their human brains and to view one another equally and recognize that Anyone Can Feel That Way. It's helpful to be brief but specific. "JK Rowling is transphobic" doesn't tell anything to the people who already know, and it doesn't give much more information to people who don't. "JK Rowling is tweeting holocaust denialism" with an attached screenshot of that tweet where she claims trans people weren't targeted in the holocaust gives a lot more information and is succinct enough that most people will read it. Long-form videos discussing what she's done and the surrounding concept in-depth, like this one from Ember Green or this one from Lindsay Ellis, give quite a lot of information but only for viewers who want to spend time learning about the subject. Which not everyone will be, especially if they don't have any prior investment in the topic. (I know when I see a video from a creator I don't know that's titled "Celebrity X is Doing Horrible Things", I'm not likely to watch it because I have no idea whether it's going to be full of useful information or whether they're exaggerating the seriousness of a claim to get more attention on it. Whether or not celebrity X IS doing horrible things doesn't really factor in, because how would I know that?)
