Today I learned what the “ring of fire” is. It surprises me sometimes when you realize that there’s phrases I commonly hear but don’t actually know the meaning behind. “Ring of fire” was one of those phrases. 

While I was reading a Scientific American article from 1997 for a class assignment, I learned that the ring of fire is a “ring” on earth where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur. This ring is on continental coasts surrounding the Pacific Ocean. Here’s an image for reference that I found online:

A Diverse Way of Reading

The latest piece in my Lake Erie Wave Collection is titled “Splash of Gold” - featuring a powerful Lake Erie Wave as it explodes from the choppy November waters. The setting sun highlighted the wave and two seagulls in a beautiful golden glow.
