My real name is Cassandra Crawford.
As of Jan I’m 44 and I’m scared.
No, that’s not the right level of fear.
I’m terrified is more like it.
I’m terrified because I just received an invoice from a recent visit to the ER for abdominal pain. I turned out that I had stones in my gallbladder. Was not admitted.
After an adjustment of $10K for something not specified there was still a balance of a little over $4K…which I’m not now able to pay as I’m unable to work following the amputation of my right leg and dialysis treatment for malfunctioning kidneys in a hospital in Florida back in Feb.
I’m now in Missouri and never made it home to receive an invoice for the 2 months that I was admitted to the hospital there but if an ER visit is $4K I can only guess at the expense from that.
Instead I was relocated upon discharge to my mom’s place to recover further.
It was estimated to take a year for me to recover enough for a prosthetic but even then I have to come up with the money to get one.
The terror is due to the medical expenses which are not finished accumulating and no income as I’m unable to work at the moment.
Somehow I didn’t expect it to be so unmanageable…but it already is.
And medical expenses are just 1 thing I can’t pay.
I also have credit card debt and personal loans that I had to take out when I was previously stranded in San Diego by my then employer to pay off.
I need some help but I don’t know who or how to even ask for it.
I was the go to for others for help before: a ride home, a late night pickup from somewhere, things like that.
This is a scary world to be in for me…
