You can pick and choose which versions of events you like and are most interesting to you, ignore the narrators' speculations if they're too catholic for you, say that this lore from 1951 and this other lore from 1925 are both correct, and who's going to stop you? If the book says 'it is said,' well, that means someone somewhere in-world is saying something different, and it's entirely up to you to decide what that might be.

picture day continues. celegorm showed up late. huan wasn’t invited, came anyway. no one can tell which one tracked in more dirt. also, gorm showed up in his hunting leathers instead of armor. neither cleaned up after themselves.
