Carter slid the plate closer, signing quickly “I say one time that prunes don’t belong in cakes and now I’m a food critic.”
Taking a bite of the cake, he chewed slowly, drawing it out to annoy her. It wasn’t bad. Not his favorite and he signed to her as much. “I can see it selling well. The raspberries are really tart. I like the crunch.”
“I’ll agree with you about the prunes,” Maggie admitted with a laugh. She watched his face as he ate it, reading his expression. “You can see it selling, but you’re not a big fan,” she replied, “what’s not working for you?”
“Raspberries have never been my favorite. I’m a strawberry guy.” He replied, taking another, larger, bite. “But cake is cake.”
