The upside to the adhd forgetting that you made yourself a drink thing is thinking to yourself âman I could go for a drink right nowâ and looking to your right and seeing a drink has appeared there. Thank you, past me. I lost you somewhere but you have still provided.
Turns out it was about womenâs sports all alongâif getting rid of women's sports counts, that is.
Wow whoever could've seen this coming?!? after spending years bashing trans people to "protect women's sports" they have now moved onto "actually we shouldn't even have most women's sports anyway because it's bad for their child bearing chances." and it's apparently discrimination against men's sports that we are required to offer equal sports for women. Whoever could have seen this coming?!?
Oh right everyone with a fucking brain who knew none of these fuckers ever cared about women sports and we're just using it to attack trans people!!
Don't think for a second they will stop at trangender people either. They'll go after all queer people next. Sodomy and same sex marriage were made legal nationwide by a scotus decision, and can be overturned just like the right to abortion was. We have to support each other! Not just because it's the right thing to do of course, but we're all in this together. đ

and in response to Andy Serkis' "all white shire" comment, i'm going to quote Tolkien himself:
"But I have the hatred of apartheid in my bones; and most of all I detest the segregation or separation of Language and Literature. I do not care which of them you think White."
Thatâs right racists, you canât hide behind Tolkien or being a Tolkien âpuristâ. Tolkien wonât let you.
TLDR: you canât value the potentially troublesome and/or racist beliefs of ONE dead person more than ALL your fellow human beings. If given a chance to CHOOSE to include people who have historically been pushed to the sidelines for racist reasons and upholding a racist ideal of an idyllic whites own paradise you should choose inclusion over exclusion
At this point I want to scream at people that we donât HAVE to be faithful to the horrible beliefs of our predecessors. Like even IF Serkis was right (and heâs not) WE can choose to NOT repeat the mistakes of the past.
Tolkien wasnât perfect and there is racism and bigotry in his works AND there was also a lot of anti-bigotry in his works but weâre not bound to the perspective of one man. We can choose to pick up where he left off and further correct the harmful tropes and inherent biases in his books.
No matter what Tolkien intended, Middle-Earth belongs to everyone and is home to everyone and we can choose to reflect the beauty of our diverse world by welcoming EVERYONE into our own interpretations and reimagings of Tolkienâs world.
When WE create something (even if itâs a reinterpretation or built off of someone elseâs work) WE get to choose what values we want to imbue that work with. If we truly believe in antiracism and fighting against white supremacy, racism, fascism, etc. then we must actively choose to include the voices of people who historically have been pushed out for racist reasons.
By actively choosing to hide behind this weird logic that Tolkien wanted a pure whites only Shire so we just CANT cast people of color as hobbits, you are actively choosing to uphold the white supremacist and racist thoughts that are harming the world today. Then youâre using the dead professor as your shield to retain the goodwill of people willing to give you the benefit of a doubt (or who just donât care). Itâs insidious and a great way to cover your own troublesome beliefs. Additionally it creates this mental wall where you donât have to question your own inherent biases.
Also, even IF that was truly Tolkienâs intention (which it wasnât) WHY would you want to uphold that intention of all intentions? Why wouldnât you want to dismantle that disgusting idea as soon as possible? You can love Tolkien and his world and also say you know what thatâs a fucked up idea. Letâs not do that. Or yeah no professor thatâs your bigotry/racism/biases popping up and Iâm not going to tolerate that
There is this weird tension between remaining faithful to a book/comic and acknowledging that the mere act of adapting a work requires you to take someone elseâs work and make it your own and by doing so YOU are actively choosing what to retain and what to reimagine. Your adaptation will NEVER be the book because the book is the book and your adaptation is YOUR take on the book. You, ultimately, are responsible for what is included and what isnât and what you, either subconsciously or consciously, add to the adaptation.
Finally England/Europe has always had POC!!!! So this entire conversation is bullshit. Include BIPOC in your projects people!!!
love all of this! ^
I feel like pointing out Tolkien did explicitly state that one of the three groups that originally founded the shire had brown skin, just for the people who donât know why Serkis is completely full of shit. Also, two out of three of the houses of the Edain were described as racially diverse, and the elves and dwarves skin colour was never mentioned at all.
I know this addition is sorta undermining the posts point a bit, but I figured someone reading this might want to know why people who make these claims are just being racist; people like Serkis are actively ignoring the text in order to push a white supremacist agenda. Iâm just so tired of all this âwhites only middle-earthâ nonsense.
psa to people who menstruate
- The reason you get extra hungry before and during your period is because your body is physically burning more calories, sometimes as many as 300 more per day for the duration of your period, with an elevated BMR (base metabolic rate) in the days before it starts. So no, youâre not being weird or gross or undisciplined if you want to eat a bunch of chocolate - your body is just burning the same amount of calories youâd expend in 25 minutes on a crosstrainer to shed your uterine lining.Â
- This is especially important to remember if youâre already, for whatever reason, eating fewer calories per day than it takes to maintain your current weight, which is about 2000 for an adult, though it can be dangerous to have much less than 1300 per day. Think of it like this: if youâre eating 1600 calories a day out of a potential healthy 2000, and your body suddenly wants an extra 300, youâre not craving 1900, but 2300, which is the difference between wanting a chocolate bar and a slice of toast, and wanting an entire extra meal. So, I say again: DO NOT feel bad about wanting to eat more during your period. Your body is working hard, and needs fuel!
- Â Paradoxically, despite the rate at which youâre burning calories, youâre also retaining water, which can make you both feel and weigh as heavier. Speaking personally, Iâve noticed my weight fluctuate by as much two kilos (4.5 pounds) before and after a period, rising before and during, then dropping sharply afterwards. So if youâre struggling with body image or weight issues, this is a suboptimal time at which to get on the scales: the result youâll get will only reflect a temporary reality, not your actual progress, and is therefore unhelpful.
- If, for whatever reason, youâre self-conscious about easing your cramps with a hot water bottle where other people can see it, whether at home or work, consider using a plastic soft drink bottle filled with hot/boiling water. Even if you put it openly on your lap, instead of tucking it under a shirt or into a front hoodie pocket, it will just look like a regular bottle of water, and any relief is better than none!
- No, itâs not weird if you shit more during your period than usual, either. The hormones your body releases that make your uterus to contract and release sometimes end up in the bowel, particularly if you happen to produce a lot of them, which means that bowel contracts and releases, too.
- If anyone tries to make a dumbass sexist joke about your being more [insert stereotypically negative feminine quality here] while on your period, you can tell them that actually, menstruation raises testosterone levels, not oestrogen. (Telling them to go fuck themselves with an angry cactus can also be therapeutic.)
- The cramps and lower back pain often experienced during menstruation, when the uterus expels its contents and your hips shift slightly wider to accommodate it, are a microcosm of what happens during actual labour. So yeah: it can hurt!
- That being said, weâve culturally accepted the idea of massive period pain as normative to such an extent that many people donât realise their pain is a sign that somethingâs wrong. Despite how common they are, a lot of conditions like PCOS and endometriosis are poorly understood in terms of their etiology, which means it can be hard to get an accurate diagnosis. But if your periods regularly have you screaming, vomiting or totally incapacitated, get checked out: you shouldnât have to just shut up and endure because itâs âmeantâ to feel like that. Itâs not, and there are ways to manage it.
- As well as being a form of birth control, you can take the pill to control or stop your period. When used to prevent menstruation, the pill tricks the body into thinking youâre already pregnant, which stalls your cycle (and stops you from actually getting pregnant). Though some people worry that itâs unnatural not to menstruate for long periods of time, or for your body to âfeelâ pregnant for so long, itâs also important to remember that, after an actual pregnancy, especially if you breastfeed, your period wonât resume right away. This is called lactational amenorrhea, which can work as a form (though not, I hasten to add, a 100% reliable form) of natural birth control. Basically, it means your body is focussed on producing milk for an existing child, such that you canât easily conceive another one until the first child is weaned. While this varies from person to person, the important thing to remember is that thereâs ample biological precedent for stopping menstruation for long periods of time whether youâre pregnant or not, and that choosing to do so via the pill doesnât make you unnatural, nor does it cause your body to do something it otherwise wouldnât or couldnât.Â
In conclusion: periods suck, but knowing how and why they work and how best to manage them can make them suck slightly less. So go ye forth, and be educated!
As someone who had to have a uterus removed for severe endometriosis, I will always reblog this sort of information. Donât sit and endure, and donât listen to the twatwaffles who insist that the pain is normal or youâre just overreacting. It isnât just in your head and you are in legitimate pain.
Another important thing.
-If your blood is brown, it means it has been sat in your body for a while. It is nothing to worry about.
-If your blood is black, it means it has been sat in your body for longer, but is still nothing to worry about. However, if it accompanied by an unnatural pain, get yourself to a doctor.
-If your blood is pink, go to a doctor. You could have an infection.
-Some other symptoms of PCOS are, having a sensitive lower back, where your ovaries are. It feels like a strained muscle and can hurt when pushed on. Having excess body hair, such as arms, neck, stomach etc. Having an irregular cycle. Your âbonesâ around your hips and pelvis hurt/feel weaker as well. It is harder to lose weight around your stomach, but nowhere else then that is also a symptom. If you think you may have it, talk to a doctor and ask for a blood test.

The #Ownvoices discourse has done a lot of harm in the queer community. Queer authors have been pressured to come out before they are ready, and people who may never have the opportunity to publicly discuss their own identity are discouraged from exploring queerness in their art. As if exploring queerness through art isn't meaningful and important no matter the public identity of the artist.
Also it is absolutely ridiculous to think that we can deem a work from a country where queerness is illegal less legitimate because the author has not chosen to publicly disclosed their identity. Authors who were forced to hide their names because of government crack downs on queer art have been questioned for not being openly #Ownvoices.
I'm passionate because I have experience with this issue. I was questioned as to whether I could write about trans people, while I had been out as genderfluid in my personal relationships for years. I just didn't think it was a strangers business. If not for pressure from outsiders, I may have had a better experience coming out on my own terms, but some of y'all ruined that for me.
#Ownvoices is useful as a marketing term for the people who want to use it, but it is not the barrier art must cross to be deemed "queer enough".
I was reading this article about #ownvoices and this quote stuck with me:
"When a gay Black man writes about his own experience falling in love, he better choose the right backdrop for it or else â only there is no right backdrop,â one author, who requested anonymity fearing professional blowback from the community, told me via email. âThey tantalize us with the possibility that if we just do enough research, if we hire enough sensitivity readers, if we go to enough diversity classes, it'll be enough. But it'll never be enough."

I absolutely fucking hate this. Gold star, no notes.
My heart is genuinely breaking for the HHS announcements about putting FDA regulations on binders. Fucked up to the core
It's a piece of fucking fabric
"everyone with tits must wear garments that comply with making them look big and bouncy. We're protecting women btw"
@witchywomin-blog-blog provided this link:
A Guide to Binding complied by Maxwell Xander\n\n(None of the images belong to me; credit to owners)
If anything serious happens to binder access, make sure to hoard resources like this!
https://www.hhs.gov/press-room/hhs-acts-bar-hospitals-performing-sex-rejecting-procedures-children.html
Specifically, the pertinent part:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is issuing warning letters to 12 manufacturers and retailers for illegal marketing of breast binders to children for the purposes of treating gender dysphoria. Breast binders are Class 1 medical devices used for purposes such as assistance in recovery from cancer-related mastectomy. The warning letters will formally notify the companies of their significant regulatory violations and how they should take prompt corrective action. âIllegal marketing of these products for children is alarming, and the FDA will take further enforcement action such as import alerts, seizures, and injunctions if it continues,â said FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, M.D., M.P.H.
itâs been so scary to be openly trans lately
be so safe out there guys
Goddamit i hate this fucking post. I hate it because obviously if âtwelveâ followed the same pattern as the other teen numbers it wouldnât be âtwoteenâ it would be âseconteenâ. Think about it. Itâs not âthreeteenâ itâs âthirteenâ as in âthirdâ. Itâs not âfiveteenâ itâs âfifteenâ as in fifth. So with that in mind, you count âfirst, second, third, fourth, fifth,â and so on, so eleven would be âfirsteenâ and twelve would be âsecondteenâ or âseconteenâ. âFirsteen, seconteen, thirteen, fourteen, fifteenâŚ.â It just drives me absolutely mad everytime i see this post that this obvious pattern was overlooked and i cant hold in my rage anymore.
âmy father is a boy and my mother is a girl so iâm mixedâ is the funniest possible response to someone asking your gender and it came from 6â5 Viking footballer and notable weird little guy Erling Haaland on a Snapchat
comedians can only dream of writing something this funny

âHome is where the trees look normalâ is the sweetest, saddest, most nostalgic truth Iâve ever heard.
Too bad the prophet Cassandra never met Odysseus
They say if she made a prophecy Nobody would believe her
Iâve gotta say, that is exactly the kind of stupid thing that probably would circumvent a curse.
Cassandra: YOU ARE ALL GOING TO REGRET THIS SO MUCH YOU DONâT EVEN KNOW.Â
Odysseus: Regret it why?
Cassandra: You wonât believe me if I tell you. If I prophecy, nobody believes me. That is my curse.
Odysseus: ⌠Iâm Nobody. Fill me in.Â
*A couple of months later*Â
Odysseus: HELLO PENELOPE, I AM HERE PRECISELY ON TIME AND NOT YEARS LATE incidentally I rescued and adopted a Trojan seer while I was away, sheâs great, got me home really fast, Cassandra this is your new mother whoâs not going to treat you like shit.Â
Penelope: ⌠Iâm going to need more details, but okay, sure.Â
Cassandra: *in tears* I love you, new family.Â
Cassandra: Penelope, Iâve had another vision.
Penelope, sighs: Go tell your father.
