The tudung issue provides the scope to think about the clothing material schools may choose to adapt their uniforms to suit the local climate. Many new schools have taken the lead in using dry-fit materials for their school uniforms. This issue is relevant in the context of jobs where air-conditioning is not available for the full work duration. For teachers, especially physical education teachers and school children and students attending physical education classes. It's important for them to change out of their P.E. attires fast and ensure they are presentable and comfortable. Where there are too many pieces overlapping and causing students to flout the school rules, some schools have made adjustments. In fact, it might be that the school uniform is unflattering to the form. Malay students should still have the option of wearing or not wearing their tudungs, or using dry-fit or cool tech materials. It being the 21st century, dry-fit or cool tech is gaining popularity in tropical countries. Most of these materials are also crease-free when it comes out of the dryer. The same can't be said of cotton or polyester materials which creases or crumples very badly in comparison. Parents just want to wash all the clothes together and not have to wash separately and have to iron them. There must be a compromise between relevance, practicality and support from stakeholders, teachers, parents and students. Jeans (denim) or polo-tee materials are more for those under prolonged exposure to air-conditioning, or for gardeners to prevent injuries. Dry-fit may be cool but can't protect against wear and tear. A lot of property agents wear polo-tees and jeans because it looks the most presentable after the formal shirt and pants. These materials are very stiff and structured so they still retain the impression of formality. It is definitely not casual if it is an acceptable outfit by the organisation. As a developed nation which is still improving, polo-tees and jeans are a relatively good fit. Some jeans can look very formal and very comfortable. They are made of softer materials that look like denim. Those on the move may want to avoid fitting or stretchable pants (pseudo jeans) as they are very uncomfortable. These considerations will help keep the environment clean and green. The downside is that dry-fit materials do not look natural because of colour-blocking or homogeneity. It's helpful to have sparing designs on them to overcome this issue, so as to improve their wearability factor. Those who are very conscious of appearances, you will see them wearing linen or cotton, natural fibres, which are more flattering and matching to the human complexion, so they appear more comfortable on the whole. But if the thickness of the material and opacity is not properly controlled, it may not achieve the desired outcomes. And you may lose popularity with the general population, most of whom are not aware, and you will look out of place among them.

Some people feel that tactlessness is a milder flaw than a Freudian slip that betrays one's subconscious. It depends on the person who said it and to whom he/she said it to. I think so if both parties knew each other very well and what can arise from that. The truth is that it does betray one's emotions. But under a different set of circumstances and the passage of time, it might not carry as much weight or bear on one's soul as heavily as before or thereafter. I was not aware there and then but things are slightly different now. I became acutely aware just last week, so many years later. It never affected me when I was at the receiving end and neither did I feel it was a deliberate and malicious attempt at berating me. Only the humblest of souls will hide for eternity because of that. And I know you feel very apologetic because I'm nice. But had it not been for the set of circumstances we were in, we might not have been the persons we seemed like to each other. So that assessment of each other's characters might be flawed. I really appreciated every word and I took it very realistically. It doesn't spell the doom of our friendship. Last week, I would not have forgiven you but things have changed today. How would you know if I had not done something to a similar effect as you?
Employment Agreements for Employees Working In High Risk Countries
When someone has accepted an offer of employment to work, in Israel, it is important that they receive an employment agreement that takes into account the potentially dangerous work environment.
Below please find specific key provisions your company should consider including in any employment agreement to be used for employees working in high risk countries:
Acknowledgment/Assumption of Risk. This provision should include a non-exhaustive list of the risks of injury or death that are present in the host country, such as political unrest, war, or kidnapping. It should also require the employee to acknowledge that he or she has had sufficient time to research and ask pertinent questions about the living and working conditions in the host country, and risks of injury or death. Lastly, this provision requires the employee to acknowledge and assume the risks.
Hazard Duty-Related Pay. This provision will explain the base rate of pay plus the amount/percentage of pay attributable to “danger pay,” “post hardship differential pay,” or any other hazard-duty related pay per federal regulations and/or company policies.
Payroll Deductions. Since Singaporeans sent to work overseas are still subject to taxes, this provision should clearly explain that the company will deduct income and payroll Singapore taxes and other required or customary deductions from the employee’s paycheck. It should also explain whether the company will pay the host country’s income taxes on the employee’s behalf, and if so, how such payments will affect the employee’s gross compensation.
Work Schedule. This provision should explain the employee’s standard hours of work or shift length, particularly for employees who are not being paid on an hourly, “daily-rate” or some other non-salaried basis. Keep in mind that the Fair Labor Standards Act does not apply extra-territorially, so its minimum wage and overtime rules won’t generally apply to employees hired to work overseas. Therefore, it is important that the employment agreement clearly lay out, in detail, how the employee will be paid. For example, the agreement should explain what activities the employee will and will not be compensated for eg. “the company will not pay the employee for travel/wait time to and from Singapore and the host country.” Also, consider whether you want to include language that will limit the availability of overtime pay, such as a statement that the employee will not be paid for pre- and post-shift activities or will not be paid if he or she works longer than the standard shift.
Expense Payments and Reimbursements. This provision should explain what expenses the company will pay or reimburse the employee for, such as visa fees, work permits in the host country, and air travel.
Housing and Meals. The company should explain whether it will provide the employee with housing and meals. If meals are provided, this provision should specify how many meals will be provided each day and the maximum amount to be paid per diem.
Medical Treatment. In this provision, you should explain where the employee can obtain medical treatment in the host country and what services the company will provide if hospitalization is required (i.e., transportation to Singapore, payment of uninsured costs incurred prior to return to Singapore).
Not to belabor the point that the employee is working in a high risk area, but your company should explain the steps it will take should the employee die in the host country, such as paying expenses for transportation of remains. This provision should also encourage the employee to arrange personal affairs (i.e. designating beneficiaries in a last will and testament and for retirement accounts) before heading to the high risk country.
Waiver of Claims Related to Injury and Death. This is a broad waiver by the employee of any and all claims against the company for injury, illness, impairment, disability or death resulting from or related to the employee’s work in the host country, including training and travel.
Jurisdiction, Venue, Governing Law. Your company does not want to be hailed into court in the foreign forum of a high risk country to address an issue with an employee. For that reason, the agreement should clearly state where any action arising out of the agreement or any aspect of the employee’s employment or termination should be filed (i.e. the “venue” for “forum” for such a suit) and require the employee to consent to being subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in the identified venue. Usually, you will want to pick a venue with an obvious nexus to the company, such as where your headquarters are located. The agreement should also clearly inform the employee of the state law that will be used to interpret and enforce the agreement. This will usually be the state in which the company is located or incorporated.
Including the provisions above in employment agreements should help provide the company and its employees peace of mind in an otherwise stressful and dangerous working environment. These provisions will get you started with revising and thinking through the employment agreement template your company currently uses for employment.

On the spiritual front, if I may respectfully add, that God has chosen those whom society views as weak as His decanters, who were chosen to make the truly weak palatable to the world. Otherwise, the world will not like them when they are in their original state. Truly to those who were chosen by God and have fulfilled your earthly mission, be proud that you have made the world a more lovable place for the weakest and the most downtrodden; that you have given them a big lead to step into this scary world. Reality is often harsh and has proven, that if you're not careful, you get devoured with overestimated confidence of being able to play by their rules, and a poor judge of character.
