Protect Carls Left Eye At All Costs... o wait

As we all know, it makes no sense at all to kill off Carl, in the comics he is heavily involved with many upcoming storylines and the television show had showed signs of beginning a story arc with him, now all of that has been destroyed. While we all know yes, many main characters are not safe in comics and the show, killing off someone so vital to the key elements of the show really puts things in a whole new perspective, and knowing now this was a very last minute decision made by the showrunners, I think I figured out why they did it.

So we open 8x8 with Carl and Rick doing the talk, we all know in the comics Negan is spared and kept alive so we can only assume this will be the beginning of Carl and possibly others trying to convince Rick to be better than the Saviors and not unnecessarily kill. Now it seems like Rick will honor Carl’s advice and not kill Negan (the motives behind keeping Negan alive have switched from making the moral decision to doing it because he was told to by someone who died).

Now that we have that out of the way, next is Carl’s now lost arc with the Whisperers and Chandler’s departure from the show. While we aren’t too sure entirely why he was let go, we can now assume from ratings drop and the story getting repetitive that The Walking Dead might not last as long as some hope, and the showrunners have to prepare for the fact they won’t get picked up for a 9th season (as of today, 12-12-17 they haven’t been renewed) so with that in mind, they need to be able to ‘end’ their story in case they run out of time to tell it. This means we most likely will not even hear about the Whisperers on the show, and this season might end with Rick defeating the Saviors, Negan living and tilling Rick’s farms and everyone else doing their best to make it in the apocalypse. In my opinion, that’s why everyone’s story arc has gone drastically downhill and become so stale, because the creators of the show are preparing for the fact they don’t have a lot of time left.

I thought that I would have calmed down by now but to be honest, I’m still mad as shit about the way this whole season has gone down thus far. From the introduction of Negan until now….this show has continued to basically say fuck you to the fan base. This episode in particular pissed me off for so many reasons:

1) Why would Rick waste so much time away from ASZ seeking out the garbage heap folks when they proved that they could not be trusted or counted on after they betrayed him to Negan

2) I don’t for one second believe Michonne would have left Carl in Alexandria by himself while everyone escaped. They have to closest bond out of anyone in the group, and Rick is not home. Michonne would NEVER leave her son alone with Negan and crew at the gates.

3) The fight between Rick and Negan. That shit was weak as hell. What happened to “Murder Coat” Rick? What happened to “I will bite your throat out for threatening my son” Rick. Rick gets his hands on Lucille and hits Negan with the skinny end? Wtf!!!

4) Of all the ways for Carl to die, he gets taken out by a walker 😡!! That shit is so lame and Bob already had that death. Carl has been shot in the chest, shot in the eye, had to put down his own mother and he dies by walker bite?!?! I would have been slightly less pissed if he went out in a blaze of glory but this shit…nah.
