It is crazy when I see myself basically begging the people around me to let me be the optimist. It is crazy to have to play devil's advocate as the optimist because everyone around you is such a defeatist. Lately I keep coming back to this feeling of worry for millennials and gen z succumbing to humorlessness and disaffection. While I do see and understand what differentiates our generations, it also bothers me that there's been a cultural divide mostly forced upon us that only serves as a distraction because honestly, we more or less have the same issues and were born into the same world. It makes me feel genuinely refreshed when I encounter someone my own age, slightly older or younger, who doesn't feel crushed into constant inaction or who doesn't take everything so literally all the time. But this is a reminder to myself too, of course. I think within optimism is the spirit of defiance, and within defiance must lie humor and affection. Being defiant is what allows us to live our lives despite our disaffection. And so defiance must have everything to do with joy and humor and love.

This is still true for me and I feel it very strongly

as a former escape room host i highly recommend doing an escape room as a first date. its a great way to learn how ppl react under pressure and how well they collaborate with you right off the bat. also more than once ive seen people enter an escape room as a couple and exit broken up LOL its a fantastic litmus test

An experiment with a clear negative outcome is still a successful experiment.
