Bones 4.26.2021 : I think he loves these situations where he can put the team on his back and say āLetās go,ā And heās been doing that for a long time this season. Itās great to see. Heās giving us great leadership on the bench, in the room. Itās nice to see him be rewarded. Heās just not going to be denied.
Jake Oettinger : 4.26.2021 : Everyone loves that guy. Heās the best captain Iāve ever played for and heās a guy that you want out there when the gameās on the line. He wants to win more than anyone and he wants to lead this team into the playoffs. Just really happy for him. A lot of people donāt see what type of person he is off the ice or to the guys or the type of leadership that he brings on a daily basis.
NBCSN Broadcast (Joe Micheletti) : 4.19.2021 : On the weekend I talked to Stars GM Jim Nill andĀ I also talked to Stars head coach Rick Bowness separately and we talked about all the issues that theyāve had this season and what theyāve had to go through and weāve mentioned the injuries and then COVID and they miss the start of the season then the terrible storm that Texas put up with and more postponements. And I said well how've you been able to stay in it? And both of them said, unprovoked, separate conversations, Jamie Benn has been unbelievable on and off the ice for us. His leadership and what heās provided has kept everybody in the moment and kept everybody thinking the same way. Thatās how good heās been for them. Jamie Benn means an awful lot to this organization.
Bones : 4.15.2021 : Jamieās been playing fantastic at center. Heās been playing his heart out. So it all starts to me with Jamie and he drives the bus here, and when heās playing as hard as he has at center then everyone else has to feed off of that.
Bones : 4.10.2021 : Heās been skating really well and you can see it. Heās had a lot of jump in his legs and I also think heās relishing the role he has with the team thatās fighting for its life for a playoff spot. Heās relishing the leadership that comes...and the responsibility that comes with the role or the position weāre in so I really like the way heās skating. Heās doing a lot of good things behind the scenes that you donāt see, but heās also doing great things on the ice and leading by example so thatās what we need from him and heās delivering.
Bones : 4.8.2021 : (Asked about Jamieās overall game that night.) Great. He played very well. Big faceoff guy. Heās been playing really, really well. He hasnāt had the support on his line that I would like to see and thatās why I put him at center. Toā¦ācause heās been skating really well. Heās been a physical force. Heās been a dominant player but he still needs to get some more help from his line mates so weāre working on that. We all have full faith in Jamie. Ok we need you to play center tonight. And he was good on the faceoffs. He liked that tonight. I know heād probably prefer left wing but heās such a great leader on this team. We need you to play center tonight. Thereās no talk, no conversation. Just ok. Whatever you need, coach. I gotta love that.
John Stevens : 4.5.2021 : The leadership in the group is really strong, starting with Jamie Benn.
Bones : 4.3.2021 : Iāll tell you who did an incredible job tonight was Jamie Benn. Thatās two games in a row. He got a huge goal for us at the right time of the game. Iāve been complaining about that all year. Whereās that timely goal? He did it in Nashville early in that third period. He did it tonight. Weāre down 2-1, get a power play, and came up huge for us. He was great on the bench, competed hard, heās done a great job leading. Those third and fourth line guys, when that happens they want to contribute, they want to chip in because they see their leader out there busting his butt doing all of the things we need to do to win.
Bones : 4.2.2021 : Jamie had a great game tonight. Thatās one of his better games, regardless, I know that he got that power play goal, he needed it. But he did a great job tonight on the bench, in the room, and on the ice he played very very well. Very hard.
Bones : 3.17.2021 : (asked about Jamieās game that night) He got the big goal for us. He battles hard. Heās great on the bench and when things arenāt going good you see him trying his best out there to get things going.
Bones : 1.31.2021 : (First game back from injury) When he found his legs he was a dominant force out there. You know, that penalty he takes, itās right in front of our bench and those are the ones that you absolutely have to kill. He did that to get the team going, to light a fire under us and thatās just the type of leader he is. And then itās up to the penalty killers to go out and do the job and they did a fantastic job on that penalty. So, when your leaderās out there doing that and throwing the body around and laying it on the line then takes a penalty, weāll kill those. We have to kill those and our guys did a great job. But when Jamie got his legs he was a dominant force out there.

2. I do not condone hate against trans folk. I also donāt condone hate BY trans folk ā or anyone else ā for imagined offenses based on assumptions without real evidence. Being the subject of hate does not give you license to spew it.
3. Persecuting people for being trans is wrong. Vilifying a dude because of an Instagram like/follow ā which doesnāt even really qualify as an opinion, much less persecution or hate ā is also wrong. BOTH GROUPS CAN BE WRONG AT THE SAME TIME.
4. I do not condone bullying of any kind. I donāt care WHO is doing the bullying. Itās not ok. Hey assholes: stop bullying trans folk. Hey other assholes: stop bullying people for disagreeing with you.
5. I apologize if anything I have posted has been used by assholes to spread hate. The entire point of sharing what I have has been to condemn hate. All sides of this debate have been unreasonable. Thereās a ton of nasty garbage I havenāt shared, and Iām sure there will be more. Everyone ā and I mean EVERYONE ā needs to step back and take a deep breath.

I NEED to say, if I watch a hockey team, if I favour certain lines or certain players, if I reblog a video of that player/team scoring a goal or doing something stupid on the ice, if I like someones play or their āon ice personaā (because lets be real, we dont know these people) that has nothing to do with what they are doing in their personal lives or what thoughts or feelings they have regarding certain issues. If I like a player it doesnāt mean I support their beliefs or political stance. I donāt even KNOW their political viewpoints because I dont follow any players on social media at all. Liking someone does not mean you support their feelings on things. There is a HUGE difference between someone apparently liking some stupid video and blatantly advocating for something. If someone uses their platform and makes deliberate statements, then you can have some sense of knowing where their compass lies. But to create a whole narrative out of something that hasnāt been said is really, really reaching. Dont pretend you know these people, stop pretending you think you know what they really think about issues theyāve never spoken about or taken action for. Thats oart of the problem here, people assuming they know these dumbass athletes whos lives are extremely different from yours. That is evidenced by the (sad) posts going around from people lamenting losing their ācomfort characterā. And how looking at gifs and reading fic made your life. Hello - Heās a REAL PERSON, not your plaything. You do not know him. Not when you liked him and not now that youāve ācanceledā him over an assumption. All your writing fic and all the rest is PROJECTION. And now youāre projecting him as the villain. You havenāt ālostā anything really... you created all of this. You built up a figure of fantasy and now tear it down. This is all your own doing. And crying into the echo chamber of tumblr doesnāt change anything, nor does it mean you care (for anything other than likes). Sometimes the stuff that goes on here is so ludicrous, I wonder if people are even of age to use this site.
Real talk, and I might get crucified for this. But the issues around trans athletes require a LOT more brain power than many here have or are willing to give. This isnt a case of someone being a valid person or not - that is not up for debate in my eyes. But the issue of trans athletes being competitive in professional/competitive level sport is still relatively new and requires some in depth discussions about making sure the competition is JUST for all. Testosterone is a performance enhancing drug - of course it needs to be taken into consideration. A trans man who transitions significantly after puberty, and begins supplemental T has not had the lifetime exposure a cis man has had. A trans man will often be shorter & have a smaller skeleton - this is a mechanical disadvantage against cis men in athletic & strength performance, they will have less muscle mass & weaker ligaments. The reverse is true for trans woman. If they do not remove testicles they need to take T blockers. There is NOT enough data on whether simply lowering T levels cancels out any inherent mechanical advantage of an XY frame, plus The level of T a transwoman is allowed is still three times higher than that of the average cis woman. This is why the issue is VERY complex and I dont have time for teens with not even high school levels of science screaming at me. Womenās sport is so severely undervalued & ridiculed & barely scraping by in some disciplines so it is important that these discussions are done with both scientific data and empathy for all involved.
I'm not going to pretend I know much on the subject but you should be able to speak without people jumping down your throat.
Here's the insane thing about how this godforsaken fandom has dealt with Jamie Benn. If people hadn't been utter headcases about the breakup between Katie and him going so far as to send her DMs demanding to know their business or just ranting and raving at him everywhere he has a social media presence, they might have been able to reasonably say "look my guy, this whole thing isn't cool and these are the reasons why" and he might have listened. Does anyone think he's going to take anything these fruit loops say seriously or even entertain it after all of what's gone on. How many years has this utter shitshow been going on now?
I'm not remotely happy with him either but good christ. For the record, I think he's doing these things because performative woke fandom with no focus on the things that rightfully need to be addressed by puking up all over social media are pushing him further away and what does anyone gain from that? There was always going to be a comfort zone when it came to allies and some were only going to be able to give so much until they could be convinced to move further over. I have no idea what people think the end result looks like here.
I hate to say it too, if the shitfic over at AO3 is any indication, but a lot of people are hanging their hopes on Tyler but I'm sure he too has comfort zones as to how much of an ally he can be and getting slapped down by all sides isn't going to make any of this easier. Some of these people have never worked in public advocacy and holy shit, does it show.

We don't know his reasoning behind what he does because we don't know the guy. He did unlike that video, by the way, but none of them would care about that. They're all set in their crazy ways. You're not going to bully/hate someone into changing their mind...if there's even a mind to change. He liked one video on Instagram and everyone's gone cuckoo for cocoa puffs. I didn't want to say anything about it because I didn't want to get attacked but things have gotten so out of hand.
I donāt know what you psychos think youāre gonna get by berating the dude, but I guarantee youāre not gonna bully or shame him into being who you want him to be. If anything youāre gonna drive him the other direction.
And bullying people who refuse to join your crusade against him is completely unacceptable. Yāall need to grow up and realize that not everyone is ready to condemn the man as a transphobe over one goddamn little ālikeā on social media about trans women in SPORTS. Your hair trigger on these topics is gonna cause you way more heartache and trouble than it is him.
You act like heās openly campaigning for the damn bathroom bill or trying to get peopleās healthcare taken away. Yes I know itās a tough concept, but someone can think trans women deserve basic human rights and still not think they should compete in womenās sports. Thatās not my personal opinion but Iām not going to vilify anyone for having it. Itās a legitimate topic that warrants discussion. And being on the opposite side of that discussion from you does not make anyone a bad guy, in and of itself.
Iāve already said way more here than I intended, but yāall have pissed me off AGAIN. Harassing people you disagree with is NOT OK. Look in the mirror at your perfect selves before you go throwing rocks at others.
