Got paint and most of the other supplies I need for a paint job when it warms up a bit more. Gunmetal, they call it graphite, for the frame and swing arm and the green for the tank and a super glossy 2k clear to go over top of everything. I’m really hoping the graphite/green will look good together. Sold the ‘82 XJ760 donor bike that the dual disc front end from so I’ll have some new Pirelli MT66’s on the way shortly. 110/90-19 in the front 130/90-19 in the rear. Thinking about painting the Pirelli logo white but actually been debating on getting some port a walls to have the white wall look. $70 worth of tiny rubber bits later I’ve finally got the brake calipers from the ‘82 XJ750 rebuilt ready to go on the 550 Brat. All new seals and rubber parts and brand new stainless pistons. Fresh coat of matte black paint also. Looking pretty good I think and finally a bit more progress. This project is taking a lot longer than I thought it would and I had to go and make it harder on myself switching out front ends for the dual disc brakes. Top is a 1977 Honda CB550F Super Sport, bottom is a 1978 Honda CB550K. ‘78 runs alright, rideable but a bit rough. ‘77 is not currently running. Exhaust sections bent to connect headers to mufflers. Not the prettiest bends, didn’t have a proper tubing bender so the tube ended up buckling a bit. Along with the battery box I finished the switch housings this weekend. My brazing is even worse than my welding, but then again this was my first attempt and I didn’t think they looked too terrible. Made a tiny bit more progress this weekend. Got the frame loop welded on.
