âThanks, but Iâve already made a mistake paying for this in the first place.â Felicia quipped as she rolled her eyes and hit the machine one more time out of frustration before huffing to herself and just hitting it hard enough to shatter the glass.
âwell, thereâs always that, i suppose.â betsy waited a moment before she telekinetically began to arrange the glass into a pile to help prevent people from walking on it. âwere you that desperate?âÂ

â Iâm impressed, I suppose this calls for a celebratory drink. âÂ
âi think a drink is exactly what i need.â despite her resurrection, betsy was exhausted and her armor was heavy. she let it dissolve off of her. âare you buying, or am i?â

absentmindedly scuffing his shoe against the ground, jamie let out a slight laugh, âwould if thatâd make any sort of difference. i churn out these bastards in the shower, betsy. wait - did i mention it was a dupeâŚâ
âI definitely got the idea that it was a dupe,â Betsy laughed. âBut the shower. Does that mean they come out naked?â

Daisy let out a frustrated sigh at Betsyâs words as she shakily stood up from the bed and shook her head. âWhat I need is to be away from this place.â She insisted, pausing to consider the words for a moment. She knew deep down that Betsy was right, she did need to at least get checked out. But honestly, what were they gonna tell her that she didnât already know? Her parental issues werenât going to just go away. And after everything Maria Hill did with forming Pleasant Hill, Daisy wanted to separate herself as much as she could from them. âIâll suffer for a little bit and go talk to one of my teammates. But what S.H.I.E.L.D. wants me to do is the least of my concerns right now. I appreciate the advice, really. Are you just.. checking for more mutants?â
Betsy couldnât blame her. She had been in the town for less than an hour and it had set her on edge. The inmates who remained had loud, angry thoughts that tinged on a violated hurt. Betsy could emphasize with them, to an extent, more than she could the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who were complicit. âIt seems you have a good idea what to do, then.â Which was fine. Betsy didnât really know her or care about the agent in the long haul, even if she was being nice. âOur telepath failed to come back. There are a few of us here. Marvel Girl is meeting with the inmates for telepathic checks while her younger self deals with our Gate. Iâm just the last set of eyes.â It felt wrong to waltz in decked out in her Captain Britain uniform. Betsyâs subdued garb was far more subtle. âWe look out for our own.â

Cindy furrowed her eyebrows when the other woman motioned towards her head, not quite sure what she meant for a moment until she realized. âOh! I mean.. if you want to. I canât promise itâll be super fun, though. Then again neither is telling it. I donât mind either way.â
âYou would not believe the number of unpleasant minds Iâve had to go through over the years.â People were, as a rule of thumb, disgusting. Betsy took a small step forward, the violet butterfly appearing on her temple. A moment lapsed as her eyes glowed before the purple faded away. âAnd now you canât find them. Not after all this time.â
honeykinneyâ:
âBetsy,â Gabby returned the greeting with a smile, shrugging quickly at Betsyâs next comment. âI can contain myself, donât worry. All Iâm saying is that the Galaâs gonna be a great time. Do you know what youâre gonna wear yet?â
âIf only Emma would announce a date.â The White Queen and Magneto had been conferring for quite some time. Betsy wasnât on the Council. She didnât know their discussions outside of what she advised on the Otherworld situation. Maybe if she asked they would tell her, but life had been incredibly busy with little reprieve. âSomething apparently British? I told Jumbo that I look like a slutty Queen of England, but he wasnât willing to hear any of it.â
xmoonsilkâ:
âPolaris was turned into a statue, which wasnât much better.â Cindy frowned at the memory. She was super thankful that she missed out on all of that.
âI did hear about that.â Betsy winced. âWolverine and Scout returned her to the Monarchy of M. Thankfully, Magneto was not home. Her father tends to be a bit... reactive.â At least his interests aligned with their own. âAre your friends doing okay now?â
destroyrofworldsâ:
âHey, canât exactly blame ya there. He seems to have that effect on people.â Daisy shrugged, although her eyebrows furrowed at the different person remark. She wanted to inquire for more, but she wasnât going to push it. She didnât know Betsy like that quite yet. And the last thing she wanted to do was piss off a telepath. âHuh. I guess that makes sense. Iâm sure having to constantly hear other peopleâs thoughts all of the time can be kind of maddening.â She thought out loud, never really considering that. She was sure it was common knowledge to mutants, but up until recently sheâd never really interacted with any of them. It was just out of her realm completely with what her team in S.H.I.E.L.D. was up to. She tilted her head when Betsy got it right, and couldnât help a smirk as she nodded. âIâd kill to be on that beach right now.â She laughed softly, watching in awe as the butterflies faded out of the air. âI dunno, that seemed pretty beautiful to me. But, I get it. Iâve done some not so great things with my powers too. But that doesnât define you.âÂ
âSome of us have gone mad.â She admitted. âTheir minds couldnât handle the pressure and they never learned to quiet the background noise.â Of course, it only took a rogue telepath or two to make everyone wary. Back in the day, Senator Kelly had stoked the fire with the idea that mutants were in the heads of humans, violating their privacy and controlling their actions. Betsy had bit her tongue so many times to stop herself from telling them that their dirty, vapid thoughts werenât the time or energy. âSeems strange to admit that we have one on Krakoa. Sand, blue water and everything.â At the second comment, Betsy found her fingers twitching. It had defined her. She had killed and killed and killed because she wanted to. She liked it, even. âWell, thatâs only part of it.â Her smile was tight. âA psychic blade going from my fist to your temple is a different story.â
medusaliithsâ:
âWith the state of affairs at the moment, itâs only a matter of time before things escalate.â
âYour highness.â Betsy quickly dipped her head. She knew a thing or two about royals, even though the Queen and the British governing system werenât happy with the Captain Britain situation. âYouâre correct there, but the mutants are doing what we can. That includes keeping peace with the Inhumans.â

havkâ:
Still clad in the remnants of a party long gone, Alex caught a glimpse of Betsy before she sat down beside him and suddenly wished that he too had access to a change of clothes.
Oh well. Heâd make do.
Removing the undone bow tie from around his neck he leaned forward to discard it on the coffee table, and reached up to undo the first few buttons of his dress shirt as well â- and when he settled back on the couch, Betsy slowly repositioned herself until her head lay on Alexâs lap.
Alex welcomed the physical contact, especially after how utterly exhausting this evening had been, but it was a softness heâd never experienced from Betsy, and he softened as well in response. One hand draped tiredly over the back of the couch, the other lifting absentmindedly to card gently through lavender curls.
âYouâre right. I donât know if they would have either. I mean, Jeanâs family but I just â I donât know how to talk to her about this.â
As much as he wanted to change the subject, bring up something else, this was the reason the evening had gone the way it did, and they needed to talk about it - at least for a moment.
âTelepaths are... complicated. Everyone has their own set of moral codes and none of them line up.â Golden girl Grey, sexpot Emma and ninja assassin Betsy certainly had seemed pretty different. âMy powers are a headache, usually. Itâs a lot to see some things you wish you didnât have to, but little things like this can help make it worth it.â Restless, Betsy propped herself up with a small smile. âBut, as established. Iâm a telepath and I can read the telepathic room. Letâs not talk about this.â
She tapped his temple with one finger, a violet butterfly floating between them before Betsy left the couch to rummage through her cupboard. The Excalibur home base had a shared kitchen but each suite kept its own kitchenette. âNever thought I would live in a Lighthouse.â She mused as she found a package of crackers and ripped into them. âEspecially not one named after me.â Still, the Braddock Lighthouse stood as a portal.
Returning to the couch, Betsy popped a cracker in her mouth before offering him the packaging and crossing her legs underneath her. âWhat would you like to talk about? Or not talk about? Iâm fine with either.â
