I was sitting in heavy traffic the other day and I was hungry, my head was spiing and I was stressed out. The cars were barely moving and I was becoming increasingly frustrated. And I started thinking, “Man, I hate traffic. I just hate traffic so, so much.”And on cue, right in that moment the Surah that I was listening to reminded me of my privileged reality in a single verse:“But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And God knows, while you know not” (Quran, 2:216).And suddenly, traffic became an opportunity to be grateful, patient, and in awe of God’s love. He sends signs to us from places we forget. Even in the mundane, He is with us in His knowledge. He is forever knowing, ever caring and constantly there to protect us- even if it’s from our own selves.
