Like all the most fun things in life, this moment starts with a bit of silliness. Cards against humanity, and Me and You are tied for first place, with one round left. The dealer, a friend both of us have known for a bit, puts out the card, and my face falls a bit flat as I look at my hand. Damn..nothing fits. I go for an answer thatβs frankly absurd in hopes that that one is funny enough, but then the cards flip. Yours is fitting, and funny enough that I have to try not to smile myself. Everyone laughs at itβ¦including you. Goodness.
Later, weβre alone-just because I didnβt want to embarrass you in front of the gang. Youβre reading, some AU fic of a video game story. I plop on the couch next to you, and look over. βHm. That character is boring. They should smile more.β
At βsmileβ, a hand makes its way to your side and squeezes once. Oops.
You have about 3.14159 seconds to process what just happened and whatβs about to happen before Iβve grabbed your arms, poking at your sides with one hand as the other pins your arms above your head. I grin down at you, adjusting my weight so I wonβt be moved no matter how much you squirmβ¦and youβll probably be squirming a lot. Wordlessly, I pull your shirt up a bit, and rest my hand directly over your bellybutton, tapping your stomach lightly. You ask what all this is for. My smile widens. βIβll tell you in a bit!β
Tickletickletickletickletickle~My Pinky Finger has found a reason, at the least. Your giggle button is so bad as a spot, itβs adorable. Of course, I am legally obligated to tell you this, as it swirls around and around and around the spot, only occasionally disrupting the orbit and darting in. The swirls turn into pokes, which turn into squeezes, and then turn into tracing all over. Up one side of your ribcage to the arms Iβm still holding down, down the other side until I get to the super sensitive spot right by the hip bone. A couple firm squishes there, and the adventurous little hand is on itβs way to explore again!
I study your face as Iβm tickling. You blush so obviously, itβs just the most precious thing. Youβre laughing again, and though it shares similarities to earlier during the card game, itβs most certainly different. A bit more unhinged, a bit frantic-a bit ticklish, one might say. I adore it. Eventually, I let the hand holding your arms slip down, and re-adjust again, using my lower body and my own weight to pin you against the couch. I tickle with both hands now, muttering about how cute you are and how I was never ever ever gonna stop tickling you as your hands flopped around and tried to stop me-quite uselessly, might I add. Youβre just a tad too sensitive to do anything about itβ¦or maybe Youβre enjoying everything a tad too much. Both work for me!
It takes a bit, but I slow down enough to just sit up and look at you. Youβre so cute like thisβ¦all flushed, flustered, slightly out of breath. Looking up at me as if confused why I ever stopped in the first place. I have to keep my voice from being, as you call it, βmeanβ, and say plainly βYou asked me why I was doing this, didnβt you? Wellβ¦β
In the instant I pause, couple dozen reasons slip through my brain.
You beat me in the cards game, and looked a little toooo smug, even though you were a good sport.Β
Your laugh is adorable.
You needed to be tickled.
I needed to tickle you. (This one would be as flustering for me as it would be for you to admit..but itβs definitely true. Cutie.)
I was bored.
You just look so incredibly Ticklish.
But Yknow what? As I lean down again, and one hand raises to a single finger that begins to trace and wiggle all around your sensitive spots, becoming two, then three, then a full hand again, then back to one finger-right before all that, right before my voice turns sweet and your giggles turn sweeter and we find a way to βwasteβ another hour playing like this-I come up with the real reason.
βJust because.β
No real reason needed.
I mean, Youβre having as much fun as I am, right?
