A week ago I set out to Copenhagen's Sydhavnstippen to do some "urban archeology". According to the Secret Copenhagen book the place's name comes from the Danish tippe, meaning to unload. So under this green triangle sits a thick layer of rubble and rubbish that was deposited here from 1950 to the 1980's.
Also the book says that on the east-facing coast the porcelain manufacturer Royal Copenhagen has disposed of huge quantities of broken cups, bowls and plates.
Of course I didn't bring a shovel so I was looking at the embankment to see if anything pokes out.
I ended up with these. All on the surface, some next to fireplaces. So are these linked to the history of the place or just to the microhistory of a family that had a picnic here?
The first shard definetly looks like RC, the other two might be French stuff.
The quiet search made possible an unexpected wildlife encounter.
Still don't know what these animals were. Some Mustelidae, that's for sure.
I continued my way hoping to see some of the lamas (alpacas?), sheep and goats that inhabit the place, but I only met a dog lead on a leash.
These domesticated animals should be in the South during Winter and in the North during summer.
I entered Sydhavnstippen from the South East (Sydløbsvej) and exited in the Northern part. There are wooden gates that are not locked.
Seems like a good place for observing water birds.

Film: Come and See (1985)
Song: Joy Division - Walked in Line
German Summer Gothic
The weather forecast says a heat wave is coming. It’s never been this hot before, you feel like taking off your entire skin. The Thermostat says it’s 23 °C. The basic rules of modesty do not apply anymore. You get as naked as you can possibly afford at all times. Can you wear a bikini top and boxer shorts to university? Your professor does. Flip Flop. Flip Flop. Flip Flop. You turn around to see if someone is following you. No one in sight. You walk a little faster. Flip Flop. Flip Flop. They’re almost here. You sit next to a stranger on the bus. Your thighs are touching. When you try to get up for your stop, you cannot move. The stranger is staring out of the window, but you can’t see their face in the reflection. Your upper legs have fused together and it will only be a matter of time before one of you consumes the other. It’s 36° and it’s getting heißer. Life doesn’t feel hard at all. It’s getting heißer and heißer. You try to turn off the radio, but as soon as you turn your back to it, it’s 36° again and it’s getting heißer. The Klimaanlage in the Deutsche Bahn is broken. It’s always been broken. You’ve heard people say there is a single car where it works, but it’s never the one you’re in. The doors of the Tram open and 50 hungry lungs breathe in in unison. You don’t hear anything but the rattling over the Weichen until the next stop. You didn’t know you could hold your breath this long. You come home to find all of your shoes have been replaced with Flip Flops. Even the Sandalen you put on your own feet this morning have transformed while you were out, it seems. Or did you put them on? You can’t remember. There’s no answers. You wake up to the sun shining in your face. It’s 4 am and your window is on the north side of the house. Mom asks you to mäh the Rasen. You are sure you did it yesterday, but you also feel your nostrils longing for the smell of frischgeschnittnem Gras. How long has it been since you’ve eaten anything? The Flutschfinger at the Kiosk is 4,50€ now.

A fragmentary report on the current situation of smoking bars in Copenhagen (end of June 2026)
First of all Copenhagen is the most overrated capital in Europe. You should visit only for the most particular and valid reasons.
brune værtshuse (plural)
Not every brown bar is a smoking bar, but a bar where smoking is still allowed is par excellence a brown bar.
It took me more then a single google search to find results about three such bars.
The first one looks like the usual anarchist nest. It's too soon for me to go to such places. Look up "Floss" if interested.
The second find was the Bo-Bi Bar.
As of my understanding, smoking isn't prohibited in bars that have a reduced surface area and a single room if they don't serve food.
Nonetheless you can order boiled eggs at Bo-Bi.
With salt, pepper and mustard.
Behind the counter an old lady that will enforce the no photos rule with the instagramer type of people.
I ask her if it was a custom at Danish bars to serve boiled eggs. It turns out that someone brought the idea (and the contraption) from France and probably Bo-Bi is the single place in Copenhagen that has this thing.
For reference have a look at IS's post:
💬 0 🔁 4 ❤️ 6 · Aujourd'hui quasiment disparus, on les trouvaient sur presque tous les zincs des bistrots. "Il est terrible le petit bru
I didn't dare to photograph it. I will draw it if I'll go back.
A nice memento:
twenty krona if my memory doesn't fail me
The third result of my investigations:
Cafe Nick. Also in the Inner City, however no more smoking inside. But you can still smell the walls.
An even older lady behind the counter. She will invite you to sit at the bar and if you refuse then she will bring salty sticks in a glass. Not so popular place.
Very fin de siècle atmosphere. Might go back just for a beer.
Beers are small in Denmark. 33 cl

A huwhyte Polish dhimmi girl showed up at the Club last Saturday.
Watching a friend play some Warhammer game, asking "is anyone in warhammer happy?" and then receiving a 40+ min explanation was the highlight of my day
I was like "damn, not even the emperor?" to which they replied, dead serious "especially not the emperor"
