I'm going to give my honest opinion on what I've seen about how people are misunderstanding Kara (especially on TikTok). They talk as if Kara has no heart and reduce her to someone who only thinks about violence and alcohol, justifying it with "that's how it is in the comics." We have to remember that at the end of the day, she's still a kind person who thinks about others. They also use the Woman of Tomorrow comic as an example of her violence and alcoholism, when in that same comic she helped many many people, and in the same comic, she tells you she was trying to teach Ruthie a lesson. I can understand it if it's like her 2000s run, but Woman of Tomorrow? What comic did they read? She literally says, "You weren't going to learn that killing is wrong just by me saying it." She's not someone who would kill in cold blood; that's not her. I also saw another one that said she made the whole trip and was going to kill Krem 100% because she thought Krypto was going to die, when she literally says, "Oh, Krypto's fine. He's being taken care of by the veterinarian on your world. I just made up all that stuff about needing to find Krem to save him, needing you to come with me because you knew what Krem looked like." The whole journey is about Kara trying to help Ruthie so she wouldn't waste her whole life seeking revenge, and yes,she succeeded, read the comic. She did manage to change Ruthie's way of thinking. And then people say that in the end she killed Krem. NO, SHE DIDN'T. He was locked in the Phantom Zone. We see it in the last panels. For God's sake, read a comic and try to understand. It's like they're going to extremes. Yes, Supergirl isn't a female version of Superman, and yes the Supergirl from the show isn't a good representation, but she's also not this unkind person they're making her out to be... ALSO, people are now thinking that Krypto is her dog in the comics too, and they're totally forgetting about Streaky. Like, I'm sorry, but this HUGE connection between Kara and Krypto is almost exclusively from the movies, and I'm not saying they don't have any connection in the comics, but Kara has Streaky. People also think she was always the older cousin when, no, they completely ignore the original origin and the origin of Woman of Tomorrow, which, yes, are different origins, and I think James Gunn is going for the original origin and has said so, but they totally ignore this... I'm so tired of it. Yes, Kara is angry, yes, she has violent reactions, but to completely ignore her other side is to not understand her.
